HAPPY EASTER TO ALL
Greetings to all our supporters , members, players and sponsors for this Easter Season. For many it’s a holiday time with the Schools off for two weeks. Enjoy the break everyone. On the playing front it’s action all the way at Club Level and Inter-County Level. The late great Micko Dwyer who died last week always said in the era of his great Kerry team that ‘Cork were probably the third best football team in Ireland’ all through the 1970’s and 1980’s Cork v Kerry games were always top billing with ‘Full House’ signs in Killarney and by the Lee. How times have changed with Cork and Kerry on Holy Saturday night next at 7pm. Then on Sunday the Cork hurlers, League Champions face Clare the All Ireland Champions -a game with potential to attract 45,000 but 45,000 cant fit in Cusack Park, just half of that with the Ennis venue holding 20,000 –‘anyone buyin or sellin a ticket?’
REBEL OG MINOR u17 HURLING.
A great Second Half delivered a 1 point win for Bride Rovers 1-19 v Fermoy 2-15 in Minor A Hurling League. On another beautiful and warm evening in Pairc Na Bride our Minors lined out against Fermoy in the 3rd Round of the Minor A League. The visitors got the better start and opened the scoring with 2 fast points, they were winning a lot more of the first ball and taking their chances, we answered with a few points from play and a few frees but were struggling to get scores in the inside forward line. The visitors scored a goal mid-way in the first half, but from then on it was our backs that put in hard tackles and turned over good ball in to the forwards and got on a run of scores leaving the score 1-9 to -9 for the visitors at the short whistle.
We made one change and had a good chat at half time and reminded the players that we needed to be more positive and work harder for each other, Rovers had a fantastic run of play for 15 to 20 minutes where we turned a 3 point dephveset in to a 6 point lead with a good goal, we were winning the battles all over the field with some lovely points from our forwards, Fermoy scored a second goal against the run of play and both sides swapped the next few scores, Fermoy rightly had a square goal disallowed but were getting easy frees that kept them in the game, with the last few minutes of pressure on us we held out for the 1 point win. Team & Panel of 19 players that all got a game. Jack Lynch, Adam Kelleher, Adam Cronin, Darragh Farrell, Gearoid O Connell, Ronan Barry, Eanna Lyons, Matty Kenny, Cormac Barry, Shane O Dowd, Sean Dowling, Conor O Riordan, Jack Mannix, Rudi Gharib, Shane Prendergast, Garry Quirke, Jamie Walsh, Darragh Delaney, Con Mc Cormack. Really well done to all the lads and Fermoy also on playing a garnd sporting game. Our next two game are Football League away to Vincents on Wed 16th away to Kilworth on the 25.
