Tournament on Saturday..Now Postponed due to Weather

Weather permitting the Tony Walsh Hurling Tournament will go ahead on this coming Saturday February the 20th. It was held for the first time last year with Tallow emerging as winners. This year it is again a four team competition with Tallow, Bride Rovers, Lorrha Dorrha and Eire Og. Tallow were County Senior Finalists in Waterford in 2015. Lorrha, from North Tipperary is the home club of former Tipperary goalie Ken Hogan and of course Tony Reddan another famous Tipperary net minder also played with the club. Eire Og from the parish of Annacarthy/Donohill have won the West Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship for the last three years in a row.

The semi final line up is Bride Rovers v Tallow at 12.30 with Lorrha v Eire Og at 1.30. The beaten semi finalists will play in the plate Final and the two winning teams will contest the Cup Final. It promise to be a great day of hurling if the weather is kind and ground conditions are good enough to allow the Tournament go ahead.

JUNIOR C MEDAL PRESENTATION.

On next Saturday night our East Cork Junior C Hurling Championship winning team of 2015 will be presented with their medals at a function in O Coileains Bar at 8.30. Everyone is invited to attend.

SPORTS PREDICTION QUIZ

The Sports Prediction Quiz is the only major fundraiser planned by the Club in 2016.

As you are all aware the club incurs a lot of expenses for the up keep of facilities which include 3 playing pitches, 2 astro-turf facilities, a gym and dressing rooms. We also continue to try and improve the facilities for our players, mentors and supporters. There was little fundraising done by the club in 2015 as there were many other very worthy fundraisers taking place in the community. The target for the club is to sell 600 Sports Prediction Quiz Sheets, this will require a huge effort by everyone in the club. Your help in selling these would be greatly appreciated. The Sports Prediction Quiz will hopefully create great excitement around the club over the next 8 months.

How it works is that we have chosen 24 sporting events that are taking place from March to October, its up to you to choose from the 5 options listed who you think is going to win each event, the more of an 'outsider' you choose the more points that you receive. The winner at the end is the person who has the most accumulated points total.

Entry is €10 per ticket and are widely available from any club officer or player.

Prizes : 1st: €500, 2nd: €200, 3rd: €100, 4th: €50, 5th: €50. €1000 bonus if you get all 24 questions correct.

Cards must be returned to any club officer or player by Sunday March 13th.

Results will be posted here on www.briderovers.ie on the last Sunday of every month.
