Hurlers Heartbreak..
At Rostellan last Sunday in the East Cork JHL Division 2 Final we were leading by two points in the second minute of added time at the end of the game. Then disaster struck. With literally the second last puck of the game Fr O Neills got a goal. The sliotar was pucked out and the game was over, we lost by 1 19 to 0 12 . It was an awful defeat as we seemed well in control of the game for much of the second half. We had plenty chances but the wides cost us dearly. We led by two points midway in the second half but after O Neills had a man sent off they upped their game to level the contest at 0 10 apiece with less than eight minutes left. Points from Owen Murphy and Colm Power put us two ahead but we were caught by a sucker punch at the end.
With a gale force wind blowing in from the sea this was the real game of two halves. Fr O Neills led at the break after having the wind by a margin of four points 7 to3. That left us in a good position at the break and we took over for the first quarter of the second half. We levelled after twelve minutes and then went two ahead. We could easily have gone four or five points up but it wasn't easy to score even with the gale. Coming near the end we seemed in control but a two point lead in hurling is never safe. It was 103 days since our last game on 25th July and during that period Fr O Neills had the East Cork B Grade championship campaign which they won and they also had two games in the County.

Thanks to team captain James Murphy for all the coaching since our last outing, also the players who supported the Club despite the extraordinary delay. All involved are gutted but look forward to Division 1 League Hurling in 2016. Best of luck to Fr O Neills who now go forward to contest the County JBH League.

Volunteers.
We are always seeking new players from four years and upwards and of course older players who may have played with other clubs and are now living in the parish are more than welcome to join the Bride Rovers Club. People who never played the games are encouraged to join too as we have a role for everyone. Maybe your talent is in gardening or landscaping, in IT or fundraising, in catering, cleaning, flag-making or any other of the many tasks that have to be undertaken in a busy GAA Club. Some people are afraid if they 'join up' they will be overburdened but don’t worry on that score. If you want to give an hour a week or an hour a month to the Bride Rovers Club that contribution will be very much appreciated and respected. They say 'many hands make light work' and in the case of a GAA Club it is really the truth. In the next few weeks the playing season on all fronts will be in full swing -why not get involved with your local GAA Club? If you want further information on what you could do ring 087 9538077.
