U16 Camogie:.
Bride Rovers 3-3 Valley Rovers 2-3
Well done to the under 16 camogie team who won the "C" County Final
against Valley Rovers on Saturday. It was another thrilling game, on
the back of the semi-final against Mallow the previous week, and it
was great to see a good attendance of supporters on the day. Sarah
Murphy opened the score for Bride Rovers with a goal, followed by a
point from Grace. Valley Rovers drew level with a goal and a point.
Another goal from Siobhain was matched by a goal from Valley Rovers
and two points from them put the opposition in the lead by two points
at half time. Bride Rovers edged slowly back into the game with two
points from frees taken by Sarah, and a goal from Siobhain put us a
goal ahead. Despite intense pressure, Bride Rovers kept Valley Rovers
scoreless in the second half and won on a final scoreline of 3-3 to
2-3. This was a very spirited team display with great individual
performances from each and every player, and a much deserved victory
to end the season. Grace as captain accepted the cup on behalf of the
team, and Emma Barry was awarded Player of the Match as selected by
the referee. Huge credit to trainers Oliver O'Connor and Jim Sheehan,
and to Yris (secretary) and Emma (first aid). Thanks, also, to John
Walsh who stood in for Oliver and Jim on a number of occasions.
