Official opening Friday night..

This coming Friday night October the 30th is a red-letter date in the Club history. The latest phase of our ongoing Club Development, our new Astro Turf playing area, will be officially blessed and opened. Five years ago a decision was taken by the then Club Executive that we would have to enhance and develop our existing facilities and provide new playing amenities for the ever increasing number of players which Bride Rovers would be catering for. Plans were drawn up but the costs involved were massive. Undaunted the decision was made to go ahead with the first Astro Turf arena and then a larger area -all fully floodlit. These amenities mean that club players now have all weather facilities on par with clubs all over the country. To date close on €450,000 has been spent over the last five years and more work remains to be done in the coming years.
The latest phase of Development comes to fruition on Friday night with a ceremony to officially bless and open the facilities. We are honoured to have 'one of our own' doing the honours with Chairman of the Cork County Board Gerard Lane returning to his native Club for this great occasion. Gerard has served the Club as player and administrator for decades and is a valued member of the Club Executive. As reforming and innovative Chairman of the East Cork Juvenile and Junior Boards Gerard oversaw major developments of Gaelic games in the Imokilly Division. He has served the County Board as PRO and then as vice chairman . He assumed the role of Chairman last December and since then he has been immersed in the day to day running of the GAA in Cork. He is an untiring worker for the Association and we are delighted that he has time in his hectic schedule to do the Official Opening at 8 pm on Friday night.  We will have a Blessing at 7.30pm followed by the opening and an exhibition of hurling on the Astro Turf. Refreshments will be served and all are welcome to attend.
