Draws Not Made Yet..

Draws for the next rounds of the various Hurling and Football championships were made at the County Board on Tuesday night last.  The draw for the Senior Hurling Championship was not made however. It was decided to await the results of the Killeagh v Carrigtwohill and St. Finbarrs v Bishopstown games before proceeding with the draws for the Senior Hurling. It's looking like the last week of July or first week of August for our next fixture in the competition. A lot will depend on Cork's progress in the Hurling Qualifiers. Cork meet Wexford on Saturday night and if they win they will be out again on Saturday week July 11th.

Great Juvenile Activity.

It's all go for the Juvenile Club at present. On last Friday night the Club's under 16 hurlers had a mighty one point victory over Watergrasshill in the championship. The following morning it was an early start for the local under 10 hurlers who were invited up to Celbridge. Co. Kildare for a tournament. We got on very well winning the 'plate' section. The Chairman of Celbridge is a former outstanding Bride Rovers player Ciaran O Donovan who still plays Intermediate hurling with the Celbridge Club. On Sunday evening then Blackrock under 14 hurling team played our u 14 team for the Fr Seanie Barry Trophy. After a great game we won by 2 13 to 3  5. Fr Seanie was on hand to present the trophy to winning Rovers captain Kieran Kearney. He also   presented medals to both teams.

Cork v Wexford.

The Cork Senior Hurling team face a tough task on the coming Saturday evening when they travel to Wexford park to take on the home side in the Hurling Qualifiers. Cork were well beaten by Waterford in the Munster while Wexford were destroyed by Kilkenny in their provincial semi final. The Model County hurlers will be buoyed up by their football team's win over Down last Saturday night. Wexford Park is a difficult place to get a win in League or Championship. We wish Brian Murphy and all the team and management all the very best. Tickets for the game are available from the usual sources. It will be a busy weekend for fans as on Sunday in Killarney Cork meet Kerry in the Munster Senior Football final.

Scrap Metal collection.

The Club is still accepting all types of scrap metal. The Scrap collection is part of our ongoing fundraising campaign. We have more projects in the pipeline all the time so finance is always vital. Any items of scrap metal are acceptable from horse shoes to horse boxes, from a needle to an anchor - nothing is too big or too small. If you have scrap just ring 087 9538077. Apologies to those who have contacted the Club and are still awaiting collection. The last few weeks have been hectic but the backlog will be cleared shortly.

Sinead Kearney Lyme Treatment Fund.

Activities continued last weekend with a Table Quiz, Pool Tournament and Clay Pigeon Shooting. On next Sunday Ben Hogan has organised a Model Farm Display for Rathcormac Hall.  All the different fund raising events are being very well supported. We wish Sinead and her family all the best this weekend en route to America.  Details of the campaign can be found on www.sineadshines.org
