U10 Football:
On Friday evening, the under 10s travelled to Buck Leary’s Cross to play Glanmire B. Playing twelve aside, the first half was very close with both teams competing hard for every ball and marking tightly. Sophie made some crucial saves in goal and she was assisted ably in defence by Ava Barry, Ava Kiely, Francesca, Aoife and Lily who, between them, cleared the ball from the danger zone on numerous occasions. Abbie Hoare was the sole mid-fielder and she did trojan work the length and breadth of the pitch winning the ball and feeding it into the forward line of Mollie, Abbie O’Connell, Nikki, Siun and Ella. At the half-time whistle, Bride Rovers led by just 2 points. In the second half, the girls were much stronger going forward and were rewarded with some well taken goals and points. Bride Rovers ran out deserved winners at the full-time whistle, the win a result of spirited effort and team work. Well done girls on a solid performance.
Team: Sophie Lee, Ava Barry, Aoife McCarthy, Ava Kiely, Lily Murray (2-3), Abbie Hoare (0-1), Mollie O’Connell (0-1), Nikita Parle, Siun Hickey, Ella Barry
U12 Camogie:
On Sunday afternoon, Bride Rovers played at home to St. Fanahan’s of Mitchelstown. They played twelve aside and from the start, the girls were under pressure from very strong opposition. Abby Keating was magnificent in goals and made numerous saves and her puck outs were very good against a strong wind. Naoise, Alice, Lily and Kate worked extremely hard in defence marking tight and clearing ball. Shauna and Niamh played very well centre field and won a lot of ball and the forwards Ciara, Ruby, Abbie Hoare, Cliona and Michelle were in hard luck not to score more with good passing movements. At the half-time whistle, the score stood at 1-0 to 2-5, our goal coming from a great shot by Ciara. Mollie, Ava and Emma came on at half time and they contributed greatly in applying pressure on St. Fanahan’s who were held to 1-1 in the second half. Shauna scored 2-1 and the final score was St. Fanahan’s 3-6 Bride Rovers 3-1. This was a very good result from a team that are relatively new and they are improving in confidence all the time.
Team: Abby Keating, Naoise McCarthy, Alice Murray, Kate Larkin, Lily Murray, Niamh O’Sullivan, Shauna Hayes (2-1), Cliona Edmonds, Ciara O’Flynn (1-0), Ruby Hicks, Abbie Hoare, Michelle Geaney, Mollie O’Connell, Ava Barry and Emma Collins.
