Help Sinéad Shine..

On Sunday 21st June, Bride Rovers Ladies GAA and Bride Rovers GAA held a family fun day at the main pitch from 5pm onwards in aid of the Help Sinead Shine Fund. The main events were a hurling match between the 1993 and 2003 Bride Rovers’ teams, an army-set obstacle course, a BBQ, and music provided by DJ Mossie. There was no entry fee to the event but donation buckets were readily available for contributions to this most worthy cause. Many thanks to everyone who helped out on the day and who supported the event. Donations can be made to The Sinead Kearney Lyme Treatment Fund BOI, Fermoy: IBAN IE 14BOFI 90286493983594.

U12 Football:

The u12 team played their last two games of the league this week. On Wednesday evening, they played away to Glanmire B. True to form this season, they were slow to get into the game. They conceded a few early goals and halfway into the first half, they lost their goalkeeper,  Cliona, to injury. As they had no subs, they had to play the remainder of the match with fourteen players. The half time score was 2-3 to 5-1 but we didn’t doubt that the girls could bridge the gap in the second half despite being down a player.  As expected, Bride Rovers came out much stronger and more focused after the break and Ruby and Shauna notched up some fabulous scores. The backs marked tightly and held Glanmire to just two scores in the second half. With a few minutes to go, Bride Rovers took the lead with a goal from Niamh but unfortunately, in the dying minutes, Glanmire struck home with a goal and won the match by a margin of just two points. Well done to all the players, and a special mention to newcomers Leah and Ava Hallihan who played magnificently in their match debut.

On Friday evening, the u12s played at home to St. Colmans. From the outset, the girls were  determined to end their league run on a high. They very much more cohesive as a team with excellent passing movement and confidence going forward. Their efforts were rewarded with some well-taken scores, and the mid-fielders were very strong at winning the kick outs and any fifty-fifty balls. The defenders marked very tightly and worked well together covering for eachother and clearing the ball off the goal line on several occasions. We had three subs, all under 10s, and they made a very good contribution when they came on. At the full-time whistle,  Bride Rovers were the deserved winners on a score of 5-6 to 2-7.

Team: Cliona Edmonds, Caoimhe Kielty, Caoimhe Gubbins, Alice Murray, Kate Laarkin, Alanna Broderick, Kate O’Riordan, Shauna Hayes (1-2), Leah Hallihan (1-1), Ava Hallihan, Michelle Geaney, Abby Keating, Mollie O’Connell, Niamh O’Sullivan (2-0), Ruby Broderick (1-2), Abbie Hoare, Lily Murray (0-1), Ava Barry

U11 Camogie:(Pictured above)

On Saturday morning, we played three matches as part of the Go Games competition. The matches were run off as a blitz and Bride Rovers lined out against Mitchelstown, Youghal and Cobh. Unfortunately, the home side didn’t win any of the matches but they certainly competed wholeheartedly with the girls showing huge spirit and grit. They fought for every ball and blocked, tackled and marked tightly making it extremely difficult for the opposing teams to score. This was a very good effort for Bride Rovers U11s who have only come together as a team for the first time this year. Well done girls. A huge thank you to all the parents who made sandwiches, buns and cakes for the after-match refreshments, and to the parents who helped out with serving teas and washing up afterwards.

Senior Ladies Football Championship Tuesday Night

The Bride Rovers Senior Ladies Football team get their 2015
Championship programme underway on Tuesday night next with an away
game to Eire Óg in the first round of the Round Robin series. Also in
our group are St. Marys & Donoughmore. The game v Eire Óg is timed for
8pm in Ovens and all support would be greatly appreciated.
In recent weeks we have played a number of challenge matches against
Inch Rovers & Clonakilty. While we have an excellent game with Inch
the performance against Clonakility was disappointing. Training has
gone well in recent weeks and hopes are high for a win over Eire Og.
Last year we defeated them after a very high scoring and exciting
contest. The team this year is captained by Eleanor Ahern. There is a
nice blend of youth and experience in the team and we wish the girls
all the best Tuesday night.
