Scenic Route For Cork..

It was a disappointing trip to the home of hurling on Sunday last for the Munster Championship game against Waterford. For the second time in a little over a month the Rebels were defeated by the Decies. After the League Final many Cork fans thought the championship meeting would bring a different result. In fairness to Cork they made a great start and literally bossed the game for the first twenty minutes with some great points being scored. Waterford got no score from play in that period but two quick goals changed the game completely. On his return to the red shirt Brian Murphy played very well, indeed Cork played great hurling at times but lack of goal-scoring penetration proved costly. Cork must now await the draws for the Hurling 'Back-Door' or Qualifiers to find out who they will be facing on American Independence Day July 4th.

RED FM  Senior Hurling League.

Our scheduled game against Carrigtwohill last week was cancelled. On this coming Friday night June the12th we have an away game against St. Finbarrs in Togher at 7.15. Though beaten in the first round of the championship the Barrs are always top class opposition - they had a good win over Youghal in the League on Monday night last.

Junior Hurling Championship.

The East Cork Junior Hurling Championship first round tie against St. Catherines is on Sunday week in Castlelyons at 3.30. We had a League game against Youghal pencilled in for last week but unfortunately this game was cancelled. We have League games this week and had a good challenge game on Monday night last. The 21st will be a hectic day. As well as the Championship game there is a full programme of Fund Raising events planned for the Sinead Kearney Lyme Disease Treatment Fund but it's the longest day of the year so there will be plenty time for everything.
