Great Win For Senior Ladies..
Bride Rovers Senior Ladies recorded their first win in the Division 1A Football League with a 0-13 to 0-03 point win over Donoughmore in Pairc Na Bríde on Tuesday night. Despite finding ourselves down 0-03 to no score after fifteen minutes we stormed into the game to finish the first half with five unanswered points from Jennifer Cahill and Grace Kearney (0-4).

The Rovers were playing good football, moving the ball well up the field and creating several scoring opportunities. The defence were also on top, Caitriona Vaughan in goals was solid as ever and the full back line of Evelyn Collins, Arlene O’Callaghan Walsh and Emma O’Keeffe defended superbly ably assisted by Aoife O’Riordan, Bridgee Forde and Niamh Barry in the half back line. Meeks Carr in her first game at senior level, along with Katie Kelleher and Jennifer Barry, were causing the Donoughmore defence problems.

We started well in the second half and two points from Elaine Dee in the first few minutes had us in control. Emma Roche and Laura Quirke, both playing in their first year at this grade, were very impressive in midfield and worked tirelessly for the whole game. Further points from Jennifer Cahill (0-2) and Meeks Carr extended our lead by seven points by the 45th minute. Jennifer Barry was doing trojan work bringing the ball from defence into attack and a great move started by corner back, Emma O’Keeffe, resulted in a well taken point by Elaine Dee. Grace Kearney added another, bringing her tally to five points and Grace Culloty grabbed our last score as we ran out winners on a scoreline of 0-13 to 0-03.

Bride Rovers 3-10 Inch Rovers 2-10

A second win within a week was recorded by the Rovers following a 3-10

exciting game with some great scores.

scoring 2-02. By the quarter hour mark the Rovers led 1-04 to 0-03
with Rovers points coming from Jen Barry, Jen Cahill & Elaine Dee.
Inch Rovers reduced the deficit to a point before Elaine grabbed her
second goal. Inch replied immediately with a goal of their own before
Grace Kearney added the final score of the half with a well taken
point.
The Rovers started the second half on top as Grace Kearney tapped over
another point followed by a great point from Emma Roche which came
about following a great save by Caitriona Vaughan, the ball was worked
very quickly down the field for the point. The third Rovers goal came
from Grace Kearney and further points from Elaine Dee and Grace

a Rovers win.

Junior Football:

On Thursday last, our Junior team lined out at home against  Ballyphehane . From the outset, we were very much in control of this game. It was a tough match physically but football-wise we were on top in every part of the field. Colette got us on the score board very quickly and this trend continued with our girls finishing the first half twelve points clear. The second half continued in the same fashion and we dominated all over the field and we ran out comprehensive winners at the final whistle. Our Junior team are now into the league semi final and if they continue to preform the way they are doing, there is no douth that we will collect silver wear before the year is out . Well done on a great performances so far this year girls, keep it going . We would like to wish Laura Pratt a speedy recovery.

Team Madison Parle, Maria Barry, Aine Cashman, Sarah O’Flynn, Aoife O’Riordan, Laura Quirke (0-2), Niamh Murphy, Evelyn Collins, Emma Roche (0-1), Colette Hogan (0-5), Meeks Carr (0-2), Katie Kelleher (1-6), Grainne Noonan (0-1), Imelda Dorgan (0-2), Meg Kelleher (1-2), Maria O' Sullivan, Elaine Culloty (0-1), Emma Barry,Yris Bloemhoff.

U16 Football:

We played at home against Glanmire on Friday evening. Unfortunately, they were much stronger than us on the day and despite the valiant efforts of Bride Rovers, we were unable to make any impact on the scoreboard and were well beaten.

U16 Camogie:

On Tuesday evening, we lined out at home to Na Piarsaigh. Unfortunately, the opposition was by far the better team on the day, and they got off to an excellent start. Although Bride Rovers played better in the second half, the gap between the teams was too big to bridge, and Na Piarsaigh were deserved winners at the final whistle.

Team: Caoimhe Hazelwood, Emma Hazelwood, Aislinn O’Connor, Rachel O’Flynn, Michelle Madden, Grace Culloty, Claire Hickey, Emma Barry, Siobhain O’Sullivan, Arianne O’Flynn, Fiona Barry, Andrea Quinn O’Donovan, Chloe Kiely, Emily Larkin, Aisling Finnegan.

U14 Camogie:

On Sunday afternoon, we played Carrigtwohill at home. Both teams lined out with eleven aside and Bride Rovers had two subs. Carrigtwohill took an early lead with two goals without reply, and they led by that margin at half time.  However, the girls settled a bit better in the early stages of the second half and Fiona scored a great goal from some distance out. This gave the home team a much needed boost but Carrigtwohill soon  replied with another goal to stretch their lead. Anna scored a second goal for Bride Rovers but the visitors notched up a couple of more goals and two points. They won on a score of 6-2 ro 2-0.

Team: Abby Keating, Ella Quinlan, Rachel O’Flynn, Ciara O’Flynn, Rebecca Walsh, Fiona Barry (1-0) Lucy Hicks, Anna Murray (1-0), Chloe Murphy, Talitha O’Neill, Grace Dorgan, Caoimhe O’Sullivan,  Alice Murray.

U10 Football:

The under 10s played their first league match on Sunday away to Lisgoold. This was a very exciting match and it was closely contested from start to finish. Lily scored an early goal from a free, and Mollie followed up with another goal ten minutes into the first half. Lisgoold replied with a goal and a point but a second goal for the Rovers (which deflected off a Lisgoold player) put the girls five points clear at half time. Lisgoold came out stronger in the second half and scored a goal and three points. However, the Rovers’ defence worked extremely hard and cleared the ball from the danger zone several times. Ruby scored two points from very well-taken frees and Bride Rovers won by the narrowest of margins: 3-2 to 2-4.

Team: Abbie Hoare, Ruby Broderick (0-2),  Francesca Meaney, Emma Collins, Allanah O’Sullivan, Aoife McCarthy, Sophie Lee, Sarah Buckley, Ava Barry, Ava Kiely, Lily Murray (1-0), Mollie O’Connell (1-0), Rachel Walsh, Emily Meek, Oonagh Nagle, Nicky Parle, Suin O’Regan.

U6 and U8 Training:

Training for the U6s and U8s continues at the new Bride Rovers' astro pitch every Monday evenings at 6.30. New players are welcome.

U14 Inter-County League:

Congratulations to Sarah Murphy (goalie) and Katie Quirke (captain) who played on the victorious under 14 Cork team against Tipperary on Saturday. This was a Munster semi-final and we wish the team all the best of luck in the final.
