U12 Football:

On Wednesday evening, our Under 12 footballers lined out at home against Erin's Own. Although we held our own for the first ten minutes, we were up against a very good side and facing a strong sun. We conceded a few early goals, through no fault of our keeper, Cliona, who pulled off some magnificent saves. However, the opposition were superior and were leading well by half time. In the second half, Bride Rovers put on a much more spirited display with good passing movement going forward and tight marking in defence. We scored three goals and a point but it was not enough to bridge the gap and Erin's Own were the deserved winners at the final whistle.

Team: Cliona Edmonds, Caoimhe Gubbins, Caoimhe Kielty, Alice Murray, Naoise McCarthy, Shauna Hayes (2-2), Alanna Broderick, Ciara O'Flynn (1-0), Abby Keating, Megan Buckley, Ruby Hicks, Niamh O'Sullivan, Kate Larkin, Amy Kennedy, Lauren Kiely, Mollie O'Connell, Michelle Geany, Lily Murray

U16 Ladies Football:
Bride Rovers 4-7 Inch Rovers 3-7

On Thursday, we played Inch Rovers in what was a gripping display of football by both sides from start to finish. Inch opened the scoring with a goal and a point before the home side replied with a point from Grace and a goal from Katie. Unfortunately, for the remainder of the first half, although we created good scoring chances, we were unable to convert and Inch Rovers led at half time 2-4 to 1-1. Bride Rovers came out much stronger and more focused in the second half, and four points without reply from Grace and a goal from Katie put them in the lead for the first time. The opposition notched up three more points but a timely point from Michelle and a goal and a point from Katie and Grace gave the home side a three point lead. Ella pushed home a cracking goal with five minutes to go and although Inch Rovers converted a penalty late in the game, Bride Rovers held out to secure the win, 4-7 to 3-7. It was an excellent contest with the home team edging it by great blocking in the back line, wonderful fielding mid-field, and good passing movement and team work to create their scoring chances.

Team: Sarah Murphy, Chloe Murphy, Emily Larkin, Caoimhe Hazelwood, Emma Barry, Rachel O'Flynn, Michelle Lane (0-1) Talitha O'Neill, Grace Culloty (0-5), Aislinn O'Connor, Katie Quirke (3-1), Emma Hazelwood (capt), Fiona Barry, Andrea Quinn O'Donovan, Aisling Finnegan, Siobhain O'Sullivan, Rebecca Walsh, Ella Quinlan (1-0),

We had a great week after picking up maximum points against Inch Rovers and Erin’s Own.
Well done to all the girls who contributed as our panel size is small and we are dependent on a large number of U14s also.

Our final U16 East Cork league fixtures are scheduled against Glanmire on Friday, April 17th and against Aghada on Thursday, April 23rd. A league semi-final will follow in early May and then there will be a break in competitive action for the summer months.

U12 Camogie(Pictured)We had two matches in two days, the first away to Watergrasshill on Sunday morning. Fielding a team of just twelve players, it was our first competitive game playing together in this age group. Although we lost the match, it was a very successful morning insofar as each and every player gave 100% in terms of work-rate, commitment and determination. Some of these girls only started playing camogie this season, but they competed for every ball and never stood back or gave up. The more experienced players fielded some great shots and cleared the sliotar from the danger zone on several occasions. At the final whistle, the girls were justifiably proud of their performance on their first day out. Scorers: Mollie (1-0) and Shauna (1-0)

On Monday afternoon, the team lined out at home to Erin's Own. Building on their very good performance of the previous day, the girls came out even more enthusiastic and determined. They fought hard against a very good Erin’s Own side and it was a close contest throughout the first half. In the second half however, thanks to some well taken scores from Shauna and Ciara, and excellent support from each and every player, Bride Rovers widened the gap and were thrilled to secure a victory. A fantastic achievement for a team that has only come together this week! Scorers: Shauna (3-1), Ciara (1-0)

Team: Ruby Hicks, Niamh O'Sullivan, Naoise McCarthy, Lily Murray, Alice Murray, Shauna Hayes, Ciara O'Flynn, Cliona Edmonds, Abby Keating, Zoe Howard Daniels, Kate Larkin, Mollie O'Connell, Caoimhe Barry

Junior Ladies Football:
We travelled  to Erin's Own on Saturday evening to play our second match in the Junior Football league. With one win under our belts, we were hoping for another in this match . Our girls started very strong and had two goals on the scoreboard within five minutes but Erin's Own came storming back at us scoring a goal and two points. This did not rattle our girls and they kept Erin's Own scores for the rest of the half to another goal and two points - our girls out-scored them by scoring a further two goals and six points. We had the advantage at half time with the score line 4-6 points to 2-4. Scores in the second half were not as easy to come by for either side as both teams were defending very well. We managed to score a goal and three points to Erin's Own's six points, final score Bride Rovers 5-9 Erin's Own 2-10. We had a panel of twenty-one on the night: Madison Parle, Niamh Murphy, Aine,Cashman, Aoife O'Riordan, Mary Hazelwood, Laura Quirke, Erin O’Keeffe, Emma Roche, Evelyn Collins, Elaine Culotty (0-1), Meeks (2-2), Colette Hogan (0-1), Laura Pratt, Imelda Dorgan (1-2),Katie Kelleher (1-4), Meg Kelleher, Emma Hazelwood, Maria O'Sullivan, Grainne Noonan, Sarah O'Flynn, Rachael o Callaghan.
