Our  U21 team headed to Rosscarbery on Saturday last to play the home team in the quarter final of the A County. We were without four of our regular older players due to injury and work commitments but that didn't take from the display the eighteen girls gave us on the day . For the second time in a week, the game was delayed by nearly an hour as we had to wait for a referee to turn up.

From the off our girls got stuck in and six minutes into the game it was a point each. We went one up but they came back with two goals and our girls dug deep and notched up a few points before Grace Culloty found the back of the net. An unfortunate injury occurred  to Claire Murphy twenty minutes into the game when she turned for a ball and twisted her knee as the underground conditions were very heavy. All in the club wish Claire a speedy recovery and are keeping our fingers crossed that it isn't the dreaded cruciate again. We went in at half time up by a point.

The second half started like the first with Rosscarbery getting the first few scores but the determination and never say die attitude of the Rovers was  once more called on and midway through the second half it was a one-point game;  2-6 to the home team, 1-8 to us.

In the 50th minute we were ahead by a point and from there on in owing to some refereeing decisions that went against us and through no fault of the girls, the game slipped from us and it finished 3-11 to 2-9.

Well done to all the eighteen girls on the day and if the team spirit and leadership that was evident on the day is anything to go by the future of Bride Rovers ladies is looking good. All of this team are eligible for U21 again next year and the only one that was on the age this year was Jennifer Barry who unfortunatly couldn't play on the day due to a broken nose.

U14:

The U14 girls lined out on Sunday at home against a very strong Glanmire side. It was an uphill struggle from the start and, unfortunately, despite valiant efforts and spirited performances all round, they were well beaten.

U16:

On Monday evening, the U16s played at home to Fermoy. This was always going to be a closely fought contest and this certainly proved to be the case. Weather conditions were very good and Bride Rovers had almost their entire panel available. The home team started well with an early goal from Andrea and a couple of points from Grace and Talitha. However, Fermoy soon took hold of the game and notched up a goal and seven points before the half time whistle.

Coming from five points down at the start of the second half, Bride Rovers had to work extremely hard to narrow the margin between the sides. Thanks to some well-worked passing, tight marking and impressive fielding from the entire panel, the girls were notably the better team in the second half. Grace and Katie converted timely and impressive scores and, despite a late goal by Fermoy, Bride Rovers were the deserved winners by a margin of four points at the final whistle. Bride Rovers 5-5 Fermoy 2-10
