U16 East Cork Football League:

Bride Rovers 6-8  Midleton 3.10

The rain held off on Sunday for the U16 ladies football match away to Midleton. With a number of players absent on the day, both sides lined out with just twelve apiece. Midleton got off to a good start with two early goals but Bride Rovers had a strong wind advantage and Grace Culotty soon brought the teams level with three points and a goal in quick succession. Bride Rovers were the dominant team for the remainder of the first half. Grace scored an additional 3-2 and Fiona Barry scored two points, half time score 4-7 to 2-1. The game in the second half was more challenging for our team against the strong wind and a slight incline. Midleton worked tirelessly and earned some well-deserved scores, notching up 1-7 to Bride Rovers 2-1. However, our team marked up tight and maintained good passing movements, and were deserved winners at the full-time whistle. Overall, both teams put in fine performances in less than ideal weather and pitch conditions.

Scorers: Grace Culotty 5-6, Fiona Barry 0-2, Emma Barry 1-0

Team: Sarah Murphy, Caoimhe Hazelwood, Rachel O'Flynn, Chloe Murphy, Emma Hazelwood, Emily Larkin, Aisling Finnegan, Grace Culotty Emma Barry, Lucy Hicks, Talitha O'Neill, Fiona Barry. Sub: Anna Murray
