All Ready For Action...
Well the month of February is nearly upon us and once La Feile Bhride has come we'll see a real stretch in the evenings. The training is already started and the games will be underway shortly. It's a great time of the year, full of hope and anticipation as we look forward to the action. This week and next the various Boards will be having their inaugural meetings as draws are made and fixture plans put into place. While the redevelopment work in Pairc Ui Chaoimh goes ahead meetings of the County Board will be held in the Nemo Rangers headquarters at Trabeg. More than likely under 21 football will be the first championship competition, followed no doubt by Junior Football and then Senior Hurling. Going on the programme of the last few years at County Board we can expect our first round SHC tie in about sixteen weeks.
Mossy O Regan RIP.
We were saddened to hear of the death last weekend of Mossy O Regan of Ashfield Place and formerly of Ballyglissane. Moss was one of a great generation of hurlers who played with the Club during a barren spell in the late 1940's and 50's. Along with his brothers Billy and the late Paddy, Moss gave sterling service to the Bride Rovers , Bartlemy and St. Bartholomew's teams. His only successes with the club were a few tournament medals but he told me one time he had more meas in those victories than any other honours he won. In 1951 the Bartlemy hurling team played two games in the Castlelyons tournament - played in Bridesbridge. In the semi final Bartlemy beat the home side by 3 3 to 3 1. The final against Lisgoold was played on Sunday April the 22nd with Bartlemy winning by 5 4 to 0 2. The victorious team was Ml. O Brien, Dan Ryan, Dinny O Callaghan, Willie Cotter, Mossy O Reagan Michael 'Tiny' O Riordan, Martin Murphy, Jimmy 'Coach' Coughlan, Billy O Regan, Joe Browne, Paddy O Regan, David Cotter, Liam Ryan, Sean Ryan, Dick Ryan. The Bartlemy club was affiliated from 1951 until 1955. There was no team in the parish in 1955 and the three O Regan brothers and the 'Coach' played with the Castlelyons team that won the East Cork JAHC for the first time. The O Regan brothers came back when St. Bartholomew's fielded a team and they later played with Bride Rovers again. After spending a spell working in England Moss came back to work at turf cutting in Co. Kildare. He returned to his native place in later years. For the last thirty five years Moss lived with his sister Mary and her husband Billy Hanrahan in Rathcormac. Moss was a very quiet man who loved nature and animals. He loved the flutter on the horses and the Lotto. Moss was removed from Ronayne's Funeral Home Fermoy on last Sunday afternoon to Rathcormac Church. His requiem Mass was celebrated on Monday afternoon by Fr. Michael Leamy PP. A sliotar was amongst the symbols of Moss' life taken up to the altar. Neighbour and former Bride Rovers Treasurer, Tom Barry, Gneeves, Rathcormac, paid a fitting tribute to Moss after the Mass. Moss was interred in Gortroe cemetery. The green, white and gold jersey of the Club adorned the coffin. All in Bride Rovers Club extend our sympathy to the Hanrahan family and also to Moss' brother Billy and his family in Adelaide, Australia. Men like Moss O Regan have helped create the Bride Rovers Hurling tradition. May he rest in peace.

Twitter and Tweet. And Website.
The Tweets and Twitters have been going well all year. So many people at home and abroad are now very hi-tech when it comes to keeping in touch with the activities of the Bride Rovers Club. The online editions of newspapers are growing in popularity. Meanwhile you can follow the Club on twitter at twitter@ Bride RoversGAA or on our own website at www.briderovers.ie
Volunteers.
We are always seeking new players from four years and upwards and of course older players who may have played with other clubs and are now living in the parish are more than welcome to join the Bride Rovers Club. People who never played the games are encouraged to join too as we have a role for everyone. Maybe your talent is in gardening or landscaping, in IT or fundraising, in catering, cleaning, flag-making or any other of the many tasks that have to be undertaken in a busy GAA Club. Some people are afraid if they 'join up' they will be overburdened but donât worry on that score. If you want to give an hour a week or an hour a month to the Bride Rovers Club that contribution will be very much appreciated and respected. They say 'many hands make light work' and in the case of a GAA Club it is really the truth. In the next few weeks many people will be making New Year's Resolutions -why not get involved with your local GAA Club? If you want further information on what you could do ring 087 9538077.
