East Cork Final
On Saturday last at Lisgoold our Junior B Football team qualified for the East Cork Championship Final. A semi final win over Glenville on a scoreline of 0 16 to 1 5 means we are now in the Junior B Football Final at Divisional level for the sixth time. It will be a local derby Final against Castlelyons and goes ahead this coming Saturday November the 15th at 3 o clock in BALLYNOE.
It was Glenville who made the better start last Saturday. Though this was the club's third adult football team they opened very strongly with two early points, one from play and one from a placed ball to lead by two after just three minutes. Brendan Walsh and Liam Forde began to win good possession but our account only registered two wides in the first six minutes one coming from a forty five. Seven minutes had elapsed before Jerome O Driscoll finally got our first white flag followed in the next minute by a pointed free from team captain Barry Johnson. We began to win the kick outs and soon the scores came. Two points within a minute from Jerome had us leading by double scores in the twelfth minute. During the second quarter of the game we took over completely and scored five further points without reply and but for two excellent saves from Aidan Foley we could have had a very substantial lead. Barry scored our fifth point followed by white flags from Pat Walsh, Sean Ryan, Daniel Dooley and Sean Ryan again to put us 0 9 to 0 2 in front by the twenty sixth minute. Then in a rare attack Glenville scored a goal and there was only four points in it at half time. We had dominated the match and could easily have been up nine or ten points but we were still confident for the second half. A quick Daniel Dooley point put us five ahead . Glenville then enjoyed their best period of the game and two points -one from a free, reduced our lead to just a goal 0 10 to 1 4. Brendan Walsh steadied matters with a good point and Terry Broderick restored our five point lead. Glenville got a point back to leave it 0 12 to 1 5, still anyone's game. In the last ten minutes our backline came under severe pressure but held out admirably. Our forwards got plenty possession and we kicked over four points, one from Barry and three from Terry to win by 0 16 to 1 5. It was a mixed performance but when the pressure came on our lads responded well. To get the win was the important thing and that was achieved.

The Final is fixed for this weekend probably on Saturday in Glenville but we will have confirmation of the date, time and venue later in the week.
Our opponents Castlelyons are going for a football double having already this year won out the County Junior B Grade championship.
We are still without several players because of injury and work commitments abroad. Our three games so far in this competition have seen us give varying performances but a major improvement on all these displays will be needed if we are to have a chance of winning this title. Go for it lads and well done on the effort put in so far this season. Well done to Vincent Cronin, Pat Murphy, Daniel Lane and Shane O Connor and their backroom team.
