Minor B County Championship Quarter-Final Bride Rovers 2-9 Bandon 2-15
Our hopes of having a good run in this yearâs minor B championship disappeared in disappointment when we lost out to Bandon on our home ground last Sunday morning. We got off to a good start and led for most of the first half but Bandon gradually exerted more and more control of the game to lead 2-6 to 2-4 at half-time. The second half saw a succession of points from Bandon, many from a good distance out while our attacks were more sporadic. We did have some chances in the second half, had one goal disallowed and another cleared off the line with their goalie beaten but, to be fair, Bandon were the better side on the day and we wish them well in the remainder of the championship. The match was also notable for the performance of our youngest player, 13-year-old Katie Quirke who was fantastic throughout and scored 1-4 from her full-forward position.
Thanks to our large panel who togged out on the day, many of whom did not get a game as we could only bring on 5 subs in a county championship game.
The final minor football game of 2014 will be the East Cork B championship final against Midleton where we will be looking to bounce back from this disappointing result.

U10 Ladies Football
Our U10s head to Mayfield on Saturday, October 18th to participate in the final official East Cork event of the year for this age group. This will be a blitz for those teams not involved in the later stages of the recent East Cork championships. Our panel performed very well at the big U10 blitz at Passage West recently and weâre all hoping they enjoy similar success at Mayfield. Best of luck to all our players and their mentors.
Minor Camogie Saturday, October 11th, Rathcormac
Due to lack of numbers, Banteer conceded the scheduled minor camogie round-robin game to us but sportingly travelled to Rathcormac with the players they had to play a practice game against us.
We and Newcestown have now qualified from this group for the final of this competition which is scheduled to be played on Sat/Sun October 18/19.
Fundraisers
Our two largest fundraisers of the year are coming up and club members young and old are asked to support these and to volunteer to help out. The next âFirst Fridayâ clothes collection will be on Friday, November 7th, back to the normal time of 7pm to 7:30pm at Rathcormac Hall.
