Junior C Hurlers in Final..
On Wednesday night of last week our Junior C Hurling team took on Midleton in the East Cork Championship  semi-final. We were to have played Killeagh in the quarter final but got a walkover so we had no game before the semi final against Midleton who were seeking a four in a row of titles in this grade.  We started smartly in the game with Damian Buckley and Pa O Driscoll well on top at midfield. Our opening score came from team captain Garry Clerkin with a green flag.  Colm Power followed with a point and but for four wides in a row we were well in control. A point from distance by Pat Walsh put us five points ahead before Midleton got 1 1 in  quick fire succession.  With Podge and the two Brians starring in the full back line we had plenty possession but our shooting left us down. Further points from Damien, Colm and a Pat Walsh free left us  1 5 to 1 3 ahead. Midleton levelled before Cian Howard put us a point ahead 1 6 to 1 5. Midleton got three white flags before half time to lead by 1  8 to  1 6. Given all the possession we had we should have been well ahead. A Gavin Quill free reduced the deficit to a single score. Then from a free Midleton goaled to make it 2  8 to  1  7. We then hit a purple patch with goals from Jamie Buckley and Garry Clerkin - we were up 3  7 to 2  8. The Magpie came storming back and added 1  1 to take the lead by 3 9 to 3  8. Tremendous work by James and Mike Hogan and Sean and Jacob saw us battle hard. With time running out  Damien Buckley pointed three frees in a row and a Mike Hogan score saw us lead by three. Midleton reduced our lead to just two - a dangerous lead, with a minute remaining and they tried hard for a winning goal. We held on to win by 3  12 to 3  10. This was a great team display which puts us into the East Cork Final v Russell Rovers who've had a three game campaign.  They defeated Castlemartyr, drew with Lisgoold and then won the replay clocking up huge scores in all the games. This was a great [performance from our third adult hurling team. With close on 50 players used at Senior and Junior A Level it is great to be fielding a third XV at junior level.

 EAST CORK FINAL ON SATURDAY.
The Final 0f the Junior C Grade Championship takes place on this coming Saturday September the 20th in Dungourney at 5 o clock.  Russell Rovers will be hot favourites to win the title after having had three games and it will be there second string against our third.  Hopefully we will have Gavin O Flynn back from abroad for the final. It is a great achievement to reach the East Cork  decider, well done to all the players and mentors. The team consists of a nice blend of youth and experience. We will really be up against it on Saturday but good luck and go for it lads. Lets hope we have plenty vocal support in Dungourney on Saturday evening. It was back in the 1880's that three adult hurling teams were first fielded in the parish. Back then it was 21 a side and Fr Edmond Barry PPP christened the third team 'The Holy Terrors'. It's great to see the tradition started by that eminent cleric is still going strong in the parish.
 NEW PARISH PRIEST.
On behalf of all in Bride Rovers we extend a Cead Mile Failte to our new Parish Priest Fr. Michael Leamy who has recently bee appointed.  We hope he enjoys ministering in our midst. A word of sincere thanks to Fr Neilus O Donnell P.E. who was a wonderful friend to all in Bartlemy, Rathcormac and Kildinan. He was outstanding in his support for Gaelic games in the parish and we wish him a happy retirement.
