Junior Football
 Thursday, July 17th, Fermoy
Bride Rovers 0-14 Fermoy 2-8
This was the first game in our round robin series of our 13 a side junior county championship. And we couldn’t have asked for a better start to the game, with the girls hitting the ground running, with some excellent defending & great passages of play, topped off with some fine scores from players like Imelda Dorgan, Grainne Noonan & Karen Sheehan. We raced in to a 0-9 to 0-0 lead after 25 minutes. Fermoy got into the game in the final 5 minutes of the half, during which they scored what proved to be an important goal, to leave us leading at the break on a scoreline of 0-10 to 1-2.

We recorded the first score of the second half with a point through Karen Sheehan, but then Fermoy enjoyed a sustained spell of pressure, and even though we defended resolutely, they edged their way into the game, and took the lead for the first time with about 3 minutes left on the clock. It would have been a shame to lose this game after playing so well, and in fairness the girls rallied, resulting in a Meg Kelleher equalising point in the dying moments of the game.

Even though we might be a bit frustrated to have only drawn this game having played so well, we can take a lot of positives from the game. We scored all 14 points from play, there were some great passages of football, and some great performances.

Team: Madison Parle, Caroline Broderick, Claire Murphy, Maria Barry, Erin O’Keeffe, Mary Hazelwood, Evelyn Collins, Trish O’Sullivan (0-1), Emma Roche (0-1), Grainne Noonan (0-3), Katie Connor, Karen Sheehan (0-4), Laura Pratt, Imelda Dorgan (0-2), Elaine Culloty (0-2).

Subs: Meeks Carr, Cynthia Buckley, Meg Kelleher (0-1), Sarah Barry, Carol Noonan.

Our next junior 13-a-side championship fixture was scheduled against Midleton B on Monday, July 28th but this is subject to change because a junior camogie championship fixture is already fixed for that day.
Minor Football
Mayfield could not field for our minor East Cork league game on Sunday, July 20th. We are scheduled to play Midleton in the next round on Sunday, July 27th.
 U16 Football
A Bride Rovers U16 group represented us at the annual Mary and Mollie tournament in Abbeyside-Ballinacourty last Saturday, July 19th. This was a well organised and supported event with teams from Cork, Tipperary and Waterford attending. Thanks very much to the host club for their kind hospitality.
 U14 Football
 Tuesday, July 15th, Pynes
 Bride Rovers 7-5      Watergrasshill 2-17
Our U14s played neighbours Watergrasshill in a hugely exciting friendly match at Pynes last Tuesday night which ended in a three point win for the Rovers. They say ‘goals win games’ as that was the case here as Watergrasshill were largely held to points by our backs while our forwards worked some great opportunities and turned them into goals. This panel of players have gelled well, young and old, and certainly our U12 contingent have now shown more than once that they are well able to compete at this level.
Match Panel : Sarah Murphy (1-3), Rachel O Flynn, Emily Larkin, Sarah Geaney, Chloe Murphy, Emma Barry, Sorcha Tobin, Aislinn O’Connor, Siobhan O Sullivan, Fiona Barry (1-1), Arianne O Flynn, Lucy Hicks (0-1), Ella Quinlan (1-0), Anna Murray (2-0), Shauna Hayes (2-0), Cliona Kearney, Aoife Cowman, Rebecca Walsh, Bronagh Cleary.
