Junior Footballers in County Semi Final....

At Frank Halbert Park in Glenville last Sat evening our Junior B Footballers fashioned a one point victory over Whitechurch in the Co Semi final. Having defeated Abbey Rovers and Ballyhooly in the opening rounds we were well prepared for the Whitechurch challenge. The opening half saw us race into an early lead with a point from Ryan Prendergast and a goal after two minutes from Cian O Connor, this was followed by points from Terry Broderick and Jason Mannix before Cian O Connor got his second goal followed by another green flag from mid fielder Liam Forde. We led at half time 3-5 to 0-5 and seemed to have the game under control. Whitechurch had other ideas and came storming into the game and pegged us back to draw level with time almost up and it took a late pointed free from Barry Johnson to secure a semi final spot against Carbery representatives Kilmeen who had a big victory over Ballinacurra also on Saturday evening. This game is fixed for Sat week the 19th in Cloughduv at 7.30pm. The other semi final will see Grange play Castlelyons on the same evening.

Team: Frank Hogan, Jim OP Connor, Brendan O Driscoll,James Murphy,Sean O Brien,Daniel Dooley, Tomas Kearney, Liam Forde, Jason Pratt, Terry Broderick,Jason Mannix, William Finnegan, Cian O Connor Barry Johnson. Subs Damien Buckley, Sean Ryan, Jakub Macek,Tadhg O Sullivan

Junior A Hurlers

Our Junior Hurlers bowed out of the Championship when Lisgoold proved too good at Riverstown on Monday evening. The first half was a shootout between two excellent free takers, William Finnegan was unerring for us (scored 0-13 in total) and John Cashman likewise for Lisgoold. It was point for point in the opening 20 minutes but Jason Mannix had our best goal chance when he showed a clean pair of heels to the lisgoold defence, but his powerful shot hit the crossbar and the ball was cleared. Half time score was Lisgoold 0-12 Bride Rovers 0-10.

The second half had a similar pattern but lisgoold were finding their scores easier to come by and maintained a three point lead all through the second half until the 53rd minute when they increased the lead to four and finished out strongly and after our numbers were reduced by two, and they finished with a late late goal on a score line of 1-23 to 0-16, hardly a true reflection of the efforts of our team who gave a solid performance all through.

Team. Frank Hogan, Adrian Buckley, Brendan O Driscoll, Tomas Kearney, Stephen Boyce, James Murphy, Jim O Connor, Sean O Brien Ryan Prendergast, Richie Cahill,Sean Ryan Terry Broderick William Finnegan Jerome O Driscoll Jason Mannix. Subs Dave Burke, Alan O Keefe, and Tadhg O Sullivan.
