Our Junior Hurlers bowed out of the Championship when Lisgoold proved too good at Riverstown on Monday evening. The first half was a shootout between two excellent free takers William Finnegan was unerring for us (scored 0-13 in total) and John Cashman likewise for Lisgoold. It was point for point in the opening 20 minutes but Jason Mannix had our best goal chance when he showed a clean pair of heels to the lisgoold defence, but his powerful shot hit the crossbar and the ball was cleared. Half time score was Lisgoold 0-12 Bride Rovers 0-10.
The second half had a similar pattern but lisgoold were finding their scores easier to come by and maintained a three point lead all through the second half until the 53rd minute when they increased the lead to four and finished out strongly and after our numbers were reduced by two, and they finished with a late late goal on a score line of 1-23 to 0-16, hardly a true reflection of the efforts of our team who gave a solid performance all through.
