U14 Hurling
Premier 2 Final
Bride Rovers 2-4 Blarney 5-7
This was contested in Pairc Ui Rinn last
Saturday and unfortunately we were beaten by a stronger Blarney
team. Ben brought off a number of saves keeping us in the game in the first
half while Patrick Matthew and John were under a lot of pressure and had to be
at their best. Jordan
was fouled early in the game and Eoin sent a long ball to Brian who scored a
goal. This was followed by Seamus getting a pass to Griffin for our first point. There was a lot
of ball in the forward line at this stage but despite Shaun, Conor and Cianâs
best efforts we didnât increase our lead. Blarney
attacked and scored 1-1 before Brian scored our next point. Kieran and Peter
were doing their best to defend however Blarney were proving too strong and
scored 2-2 before Conleth pointed a free leaving us with a mountain to climb in
the second half.
Our second half performance wasnât up to
our usual standard but we never stopped trying as Brian goaled a second time
and Griffin got
another point. Blarney dominated and scored an
additional 2-3. The lads can be proud of their achievement in getting to the
Premier 2 County final and hopefully will have more success in the years to
come. They still have the league and football championship so best of luck
lads.
