Bride Rovers 7-16 St Marys 1-7
The senior team played their last league game on Sunday last versus St. Marys in Rathcormac. St Marys is a newly formed club made up of Liscarroll and Dromina from the North Cork division. This was a crunch game that would decide if Bride Rovers went through to the County Final versus Boherbue or if we would have to depend on other results to get there. Having already defeated Roscarrberry, Beara and Gabriel Rangers in earlier rounds it was well known that this was to be one of the toughest games of the campaign. It was a fixture that was due to be played on a number of occasions but it seems the wait served the Bride Rovers girls well. It was a very good evening for football and the local support was as you would expect for a crunch game. The home side started very strong and set the scene by registering the first few scores. The intensity of the game was ferocious from the outset and from 1-15 all players raised their game accordingly and never wavered under the pressure. At half time the score was very much in favour of our girls (6-7 to 1-1) but with St. Marys boasting many experienced inter county players it was recognised that they wouldnât go down without a fight. They started the second half strong and registered some scores from frees but were well marshalled by the defence who ensured the damage was kept to a minimum. The introduction of fresh legs in the second half ensured the high intensity could be upheld and the Rovers girls could further their lead. The game was a great display of football from start to finish with each Rovers player doing their utmost to secure the final position. It is customary after a game that people would comment on the game and the team performance and Sunday was no different but this time the comments were full of positivity for all involved as the team display was as good as any seen in a Bride Rovers Ladies Football jersey for many years but most definitely since they have entered Senior ranks. This was a game that had everything â great scores, great saves, great passages of play, heart, determination, drive and fearlessness. Those that donned the jersey on the evening were most definitely in a league of their own against a very good St Marys side that just werenât left play ball. It was an amalgamation of youth and experience in perfect combination that provided the showcase that ended in a 7.16 to 1.7 result and the much coveted 3 points on the league table. This win was probably a culmination of the successful U21 county final win and the Junior A 13 aside league that was won on the previous night. The girls know however that nothing has been won yet in this grade and even with four wins out of five the big battle is left against Boherbue, the only side that have beaten us in the league. This game is due to be played post exams and training and practice matches will be keeping us going in the meantime. A hearty well done to all on Sunday night but a gentle reminder that there is still one step left.

13-A-Side A County League Final
Saturday, May 10th
Bride Rovers 5-17 St Peters 3-6.
Bride Rovers captured our first 13-a-side A league title with a fantastic win over St Peters in Clondrohid last Saturday night. We got some early scores which settled the team but St Peters enjoyed a good spell also and while we led 3-8 to 2-5 at half-time, the game was still in the balance. The second half was a different story however and we gradually got on top to run out comfortable winners in the end. Well done to all the players who contributed not just in the final but throughout the league campaign. Well done also to team manager Shane OâConnor and Jim Sheehan. We now look forward to the East Cork Junior B championship against Glanmire, which will be followed by the County Championship.

Bride Rovers 2-8 Glanmire 4-12
Our final East Cork U14 league fixture for 2014 ended in defeat to recent Feile winners Glanmire at the main pitch last Sunday afternoon. Best of luck to Glanmire in the county championship and in the league semi-finals. After this result, Bride Rovers are now dependent on other results for us to have a chance of qualifying for the county championship.
U12 Football
Our U12 ladies footballers got back on track with a good win against Lisgoold on last Wednesday evening, 1-10 to 1-2.
They followed up, played Midleton on Monday evening and collected the points after a second victory of the week on a scoreline of 5-9 to 2-6.
Well done to the girls and their mentors on a fantastic week.
U10 Ladies Football
Our U10s and U8 started activity for 2014 in recent weeks, training on Saturday (football) and Wednesday (camogie). The U10 girls played their first football match away to Mayfield recently and had a great turnout of 19 players. We even loaned a few to Mayfield for the evening. Well done to everyone involved.
On a windy and misty evening in Pyneâs Pitch, and in front of a nice crowd, the U-10 girls of Bride Rovers and Fermoy served up an exciting spectacle. Playing with the wind, Fermoy piled on the pressure and despite some great saves from their keeper, Bride Rovers found themselves 4-2 to 0-2 down at half-time. In the second half, Bride Rovers scored five unanswered points but two late goals from Fermoy put the game out of sight. Final score was Bride Rovers 0-7, Fermoy 6-2.
