Good win for Minor & Juniors...
Rebel Og Co Minor Hurling league
On Thursday April 10th we travelled to Castlemartyr to take on Kiltha Ãg in the Minor A Hurling League. This was always going to be a tough game as our opponents were a combination of Castlemartyr and Dungourney players. The game was nip and tuck for the first half with some great long range striking from DJ Cahil and Shane O' Connor in particular. The Kiltha Og side got great points also to lead by a single point on a scoreline of 0-8 to 0-7. From the restart our lads battled hard for possession which lead to a brilliantly worked goal from William Finnegan. Kiltha Og then came back into it but just when the game looked to be heading for a draw, with five minutes remaining Jesse O' Keeffe planted the ball in the net after some great work by Cian O' Connor and Shane Walsh. The Rovers then closed the game out to record our second win on the bounce on a scoreline of 2-12 to 0-16. Our next game away to Watergrasshill was originally fixed for this coming Saturday April 19th but has been changed to Easter Sunday, time and venue to be confirmed.
Team v Kiltha Og: D. Moore, J. Tobin, T. O Sullivan, J. Barry, C. Howard, R. Prendergast, J. Connor, C O Connor 0-2, J. O Keeffe 1-0, DJ Cahill 0-2, W. Finnegan 1-1, S. O Connor 0-1, C. O Grady, D. Lenihan 0-3, S. Walsh 0-2. Subs: J. Service, J. Fitzgerald.
WE have to play St. Catherines and Erins Own also in this competition.
Cavanaghs of Fermoy JHL
We were to have played Doneraile in Round 5 of the Inter Divisional JHL on Saturday evening but the game was switched to Sunday evening at Doneraile's request.
We asked for a full turn out of players and consequently it was great to see 33 players attend for this important game on Palm Sunday Evening.
We opened play brightly and had three point on the board within minutes having opened proceedings with the aid of the wind. Some excellent inter changing play saw us take control of the game and by half-time we had 1-10 on the board to 0-4 for Doneraile.
We made several switches for the second half and used our full quota of subs and we ran out easy winners of a score of 3-18 to 2-9.

Phil Leahy RIP.
It is fair to say that all of North East Cork was plunged into sadness last week when we heard of the death of Philly Leahy of Ballyhooley. A community activist and worker in so many organizations for decades Philly was a larger than life character. He served Ballyhooley GAA as a player and administrator for over thirty years. He will be sorely missed. Deepest sympathy to his wife Anne, son William, Patrick and Philip, brother Mike and sister Mary.
