 Senior Football
County Senior League
Beara 2-12           Bride Rovers 5-10
Venue : Castletownbere
Date : Sunday, 13th April 2014

Adrigole was the venue for Round 3 of the senior league when the girls took on local side Beara on Sunday 13th April.  It was a lovely day in west cork which was a welcome surprise following the two and a half hour bus journey.  The Rovers girls got off to a flying start and raised a number of green flags in quick succession following some good passages of football.  Beara hit a purple patch in the last 10 minutes of the first half which saw them tacking on some good scores but our girls still held the lead at half time.  The second half started with gusto and Beara were first to get on the scoreboard but some outstanding shot stopping from goal keeper Caitriona Vaughan kept the distance between the two teams.  Some controversial refereeing decisions caused some uproar at times and a Bride Rovers sin binning in the second half meant our backs were to the wall. In fairness to the girls they played with greater intensity and the customary never say die attitude during this half which helped gain a comfortable lead and we ran out convincing winners on a scoreline of 5.10 to 2.12.  Two games remain in the league which must be completed by 21st of April.  Gabriel Rangers and St. Marys provide the opposition for these games.
Panel and scorers: Caitriona Vaughan,  Arlene O’ Callaghan, Shelly McAteer, Aine Cashman, Emma O Keeffe, Bridget Forde, Aoife Riordan, Trish O’ Sullivan (0-1), Eleanor Ahern (0-1),  Katie Kelleher (0-1), Jennifer Barry (1-2), Grace Kearney (3-1), Sinead Walsh (1-1), Jennifer Cahill, Imelda Dorgan (0-1), Katie Connor (0-1), Rachel O’ Callaghan, Elaine Culloty (0-1), Meg Kelleher, Laura Pratt, Erin O’Keeffe, Claire Murphy.

 U21 Football
 U21 Championship Semi-Final
Bride Rovers (7-13) V Kinsale (4-5)
Venue: Shamrocks, Shanbally
Date: Friday, 11th April 2014

We travelled to Shanbally on Friday 11th April to take on Kinsale in the U21 County Semi-Final, a re-take of last year’s county semi in the same grade.  It was a fantastic evening for a football match, the conditions of both the pitch and the weather were ideal for the game.
We lined out with a very strong 15 and also had plenty of depth in our full panel.  We got off to a very strong start, running at Kinsale from every position on the pitch.  The first half saw fantastic scores from Elaine Culloty, Jennifer Barry, Grace Culloty, Rachel O’Callaghan & Jennifer Cahill.  The backs and midfielders worked very hard in defense, preventing scores and delivering great ball into our forward line.  The forwards worked tirelessly seeking the ball, taking great scores and displaying great support play.  The first half proved to be a very tight game on the field and Kinsale didn't make it easy for us going in just a strong as we did for every ball, both sides showing their determination to win their place in the final.  The half time score was 4-9 to 4-2 in favour of Bride Rovers.  As in last year’s semi-final against Kinsale also it too found us in the lead by 7 points at half time, but last year wasn't meant to be our year and we were defeated by 1 point.  The Rovers girls learnt a great lesson from this defeat and were determined not to let it happen again and wanted to make this year Bride Rovers year.
The Rovers girls went back on the pitch in the second half with a spring in their step and decided to go at Kinsale hard and fast to finish them off in the final 30 minutes of the game.  It remained a very fast paced, highly skilled game of football.  Each of our backs and our goalkeeper Madison had an outstanding second half keeping Kinsale to a very low second half score of 2 points.  Our Midfield and forwards also took advantage of every ball and scored another 3-3 in the second half.
The girls played extremely well for the full 60 minutes of the game with the subs making a huge difference, the fresh legs helped us to push on and claim victory at the end of the game.
Final score Bride Rovers 7-13, Kinsale 4-5.  The County Final is set for Monday 21st April with Venue and time to be confirmed, the girls will face Douglas.

U14 Football
Sunday, April 13th, Aghada
Well done to our U14 ladies footballers who performed very well in the Feile last Sunday, qualifying for the semi-final where we lost out to eventual winners Aghada. We lost our opening fixture to Glanmire but upped our performance to have a good win over Midleton in the second group game. Next up were Aghada in the semi-final who proved too strong even though we had the better of affairs in the second half and could have finished very close if all chances had been taken. Best of luck to Glanmire and Aghada who are the East Cork qualifiers to the county feile on Saturday, April 26th.

 U16 Camogie
 Sunday, April 13th, Rathcormac
Bride Rovers 1-2               Tracton 5-8

Tracton were the U16 camogie opposition in a league game last Sunday in Rathcormac and proved too strong on the day. Well done to all our girls who turned out on a day when we were short of players.
The club will hold a flag-day collection this Easter Saturday, April 19th in Fermoy and Rathcormac. Please support this crucial fundraiser and help out by collecting for an hour on the day if you can.
