 Seniors Lose to Newtown....
We travelled to Newtownshandrum on Sunday to take on the home side in the RED FM County Senior Hurling League competition.  In an interesting game our inability to clock up scores cost us dearly. In any of our four SHL games to date we just cant raise the white flag often enough. At this level a return of fifteen to twenty points per game should be the target. Unfortunately on Sunday last we scored just 11 points to Newtown's tally of 1  16.

CAVANAGHS OF FERMOY AVONDHU/IMOKILLY JHL DIV. I
We were to travel to Dungourney on Saturday evening but with Jamesey Kelleher Memorial Park deemed unplayable the game was switched to Pairc na Bride.  We were short players due to work commitments and injuries and suspensions. As with our last few games we were again slow off the mark and with just twelve minutes gone the visitors were ahead by five points. By half time we were in arrears by 9 points to 1 2 our goal coming from Jerome O Driscoll.
Our second half performance was much improved and we came more into the game and some 14 minutes into the half we were unlucky in that a high ball into their square was scrambled clear off the upright and the resultant "65" was not converted. We battled, in true Rovers fashion, and had the Dungourney  lead reduced to two points with six minutes remaining.  A one to one situation  with their goalkeeper saw the sliothar saved, cleared  and resulted with a score at the other end.  The visitors finished strongly with some good points to run out winners on a score of 0-19 to 2-6.
