Minor Football....

Monday, November 4, Fuohy Park East Cork Minor A Ladies Football Final

Bride Rovers 2-13             Fermoy 7-4

Our minor footballers emerged with great credit after a mighty battle with Fermoy in the East Cork Minor A football final. Fermoy have been dominant in underage ladies football for a few years now but our girls matched them in many areas and we can have a few regrets about not claiming this title this year. I felt we created more scoring chances over the game than Fermoy, but our conversion rate just wasn’t quite high enough and Fermoy proved better at getting in for goals at critical points of the game to seal the win. We dominated for long stretches, especially in the second half when we led at one stage by 3 points after clawing back a 4 point half-time deficit, and Bride Rovers showed that they are not out of place in the top tier of ladies football in East Cork. The performance will give us confidence as we prepare for the county A quarter-final, especially if we work on a few areas for improvement around the pitch. Commiserations to all the panel who were understandably disappointed after the this final loss but I am confident that we can bounce back from it and congratulations to Fermoy on their win.

Final Panel : Madison Parle, Erin O’Keeffe, Aine Cashman, Niamh Murphy, Aoife O’Riordan, Trish O’Sullivan, Laura Quirke (0-1), Jen Cahill (0-3), Mary Hazelwood (Capt.), Aoife Deasy (1-0), Grace Culloty (0-5), Karen Sheehan (0-1), Elaine Culloty (1-2), Emma Roche (0-1), Katie Connor, Meg Kelliher, Sarah O’Flynn, Grainne Noonan, Shauna O’Connell, Laura Pratt, Maria O’Sullivan, Jessica Howard, Emma Hazelwood.

 U16 Camogie

Saturday, November 2, Riverstick U16 County C Camogie Semi-Final

Sliabh Rua 4-3               Bride Rovers 1-2

Camogie action for 2013 ended for Bride Rovers on a disappointing note at Riverstick when the home side avenged their defeat at our hands in the U16 league earlier in the year. Our girls did their best but found scores hard to come by while Sliabh Rua goaled at critical points of the match to earn a place in the county U16C final and we wish them the best of luck in that. Well done to all the panel and their mentors for the effort put in this year.

Scorers : Emma Barry 1-0, Laura Quirke 0-1, Siobhan O’Sullivan 0-1.
