Hectic weekend of games....
What a weekend it was with Pairc na Bride hosting no less than five games in two days. Despite the inclement weather the pitch stood up well to a bumper two days of games. All week we had listened closely to the weather forecast in advance of the two East Cork Junior Finals which formed a double header on Saturday. The rain lashed down on Thursday and Friday but thankfully on Saturday we got just a few heavy showers. It was a crazy, hectic few days in preparation for the two biggest games in the Imokilly GAA calendar - the first occasion since 1962 that the two finals were staged together. Sincere thanks to all our club members who gave freely, many were at the pitch on Saturday from 9am until after 6pm in the evening. Thanks to all those who brought and served food all day and those who stewarded the car parks and the pitch for long hours. The club had to produce a Souvenir Programme in five days and our special thanks to all those who contributed material and advertisements and of course to Fermoyprint for the final product which was well received. Thanks to the ticket and programme sellers and everyone who helped in any way. With a big contingent from the parish gone to Galway for the weekend to help Fitzie make final preparations for his upcoming Yuletide Nuptials we thought weâd be under pressure but we got on superbly. The officers and Executive of the East Cork GAA Board were thrilled with the arrangements on the day. The broken weather probably diminished the attendance somewhat but close on 1000 people were in attendance between the four team panels, officials, guests and the 1963 Castlemartyr team. It was a special day for our Club Chairman James Bermingham who refereed the Hurling Final. Pictured is Dick Fitzgerald presenting the cup to Brian Lawton
The Finals
When Lisgoold led the Junior Football replay at half time by five points it looked as if a new name would be inscribed on the Jim Ryan cup. Champions die hard and in the second half Glenbower Rovers took over and went on to complete a âthree-in-a-row of JAFC titles. They now meet Belgooly in the County JAFc at Pairc Ui Rinn on tonight Thursday. Despite the absence through suspension of one of their top forwards Castlemartyr were deserving winners of the JAHC title. In the end they won by 2 16 to 2 10 for Sars. The âRedsâ now go to the top of the East Cork JAHC winners list, this being their tenth title. Castlemartyr now face Kilbrin in the co JAHC semi final at the weekend with the Tom Kenny led Grenagh already through to the final.
Sunday.
At noon on Sunday Fermoy and Castlelyons faced off in the Rochestown Park sponsored County Division 2 Hurling League. A good crowd saw Castlelyons come out on top by 4 points 1 14 to 1 10. The pitch hosted two more games after that on Sunday in what was a bumper weekend for the sod of Pairc na Bride. In Minor Camogie championship our girls defeated Newcestown by 2 6 to 0 3. Later in the evening the girls under 14 Football championship game was centre stage when our girls defeated Watergrasshill by 5 14 to 1 9.
It certainly was a weekend not to be forgotten and thanks again to all those who cooperated to make everything run smoothly.
County Minor Hurling League.
We are due to play Western Gaels in the County Rebel Og Minor Hurling League. We expect this game to be played over the coming Bank Holiday weekend. Western Gaels are still involved in the Co Minor Football championship so our game will depend on whether they progress or not in the football. Players will be notified if the game goes ahead. Training will continue and players will be notified with details.
Club weekly Lotto
Last weeks Lotto Jackpot was worth â¬8600 and the draw took place on Tuesday October 15th. The 4 numbers drawn were 5,6,11&22 and there was no winner.

The weekly Lotto is the main source of income for the Club and we thank everyone who supports the Lotto. New Lotto Ticket sellers are always very welcome â if you could sell even a few tickets each week it would be of great assistance to the Club. Just contact any club officer.
Cork Gaa members draw 2013/2014
The September and October Draws in the new series of the Cork GAA Members Draw will take place on Thursday week. It costs just â¬100 a year or â¬10 a month to join this draw and funds from the Draw come back to the club as well as going towards funding County Coaches, Development Squads, Coaching Courses and other Coiste Oiliuna initiatives. If you are in the Draw already thank you and if you would like to join just contact any Club Officer in the next few days.
Scor.
The Bride Rovers Club is hoping to have an entry in the Scor na nOg GAA Talent competition this year. Scorn a nOg is for those aged under 17 on the 1st of January 2014. There are individual and group competitions for singing, dancing, ballad group, historical sketch, music and question time. If you are interested please get in contact with Ger Lane or Mossie O Sullivan.
Club Shop
The Club Shop will be open on tonight Thursday October 24th from 7pm until 7.30pm to take orders for Christmas. A huge range of items in the Bride Rovers Colours are available and those not in stock can be ordered but to guarantee delivery for Christmas the orders have to sent in to our suppliers this week.
