Our Minor Hurling team are in Rebel Og Championship team this Sunday August 4th (deferred from last Thurs night) . We face Mid Cork side Grenagh in the first round of the competition in the Mon Field in Cork city at 12,30pm. We had an unbeaten run in the Minor Hurling League in the spring but as we saw against Brian Dillons in the Football championship there's a huge difference between League and Championship. Like ourselves Grenagh are out of the football championship so this will be a tough encounter to win. The Mon Field is next to the St. Vincents GAA Club grounds in Knocknaheeney in the Northside of Cork City.
Senior Championship now on 18th.
With Cork fashioning a magnificent win last Sunday the Cork County Championship programme has had to be revised. Cork will be playing the All Ireland semi final on the 11th of August so our Co SHC game v Midleton has been put back a week to August 18th. We are now part of a double-header in Pairc Ui Chaoimh on that day;
Midleton v Bride Rovers 2.30pm
Glen Rovers v Erins Own 4.15pm
The Kildorrery v St. Catherines game in the IHC fixed for Pairc na Bride has now been refixed for Sunday August 25th.
Well done to Cork on a great display on Sunday in defeating Kilkenny. Last week Michael Fennelly was quoted as saying that ''We know it will end some day, we cant keep winning forever". Few gave Cork a realistic chance going to Thurles on Sunday. Kilkenny had only scored two goals all season so many thought they might get a bagful on Sunday. People speak of tradition and some dismiss it but while it cannot be truly defined it means that Cork never fear Kilkenny and of course Cork hurling teams just love playing in Semple Stadium. Recall 1966, 1969, 1972, 1999 and remember how 'form' goes out the gate when the Rebels and Cats meet! So for the first time since 1996 Kilkenny are not in the last four in the All Ireland Championship. Cork and Dublin, Limerick and Clare - who could have imagined those pairings?
Junior C Hurling.
Ballyhooley's second team were visitors to Pairc na Bride last week to take on our third XV in a challenge game. Our lads are getting ready to face Castlemartyr in the championship shortly so this was a good game to get. The visitors won on a scoreline of Ballyhooley 1 13, Bride Rovers 1 7.
Team; Maurice Dooley, Jamie Buckley, Barry Collins, Podge Noonan, Sean Cotter, Gavin Quill, Stephen O Leary, Tomas Kearney, Daniel Lane, James Hogan, Garry Clerkin, Niall Hogan, Enda Collins, Kieran Wolfe, Darren Moore. Subs; James Barry, Liam O Leary, Damien Buckley.

CORK V DUBLIN, 1952.
The upcoming meeting of Cork and Dublin in the All Ireland Hurling semi-final will bring back memories in our parish of their last clash at the latter stages of the championship. This was in the 1952 All Ireland Senior Final when Cork won by 2 14 to 0 7. On the Dublin team that day was Con Murphy formerly of |Main. St. Rathcormac. Con had won an All Ireland medal with Cork in 1944 -the last leg of the history making 4-in-a-row, when the Rebels als o beat Dublin in the final. By 1952 Con was studying in Dublin and playing with the Civil Service Club. The late Con Murphy was Chemist in Tallow for many years.
