Senior/Junior Football
The senior and junior team have been training diligently since the end of the league campaign and as a unit have played 10 practice matches. The girls played Watergrasshill, Douglas, Bishopstown, Brian Borus, Carrigtwohill/Erins Own,Glanmire, Midleton, Donoughmore, Ballyduff and had some great performances. All the matches were very competitive and all players got to play in all games boosting the panel for the upcoming championship. Preparations continue for the round robin fixtures in the Senior A championship against Rosscarbery and Eire Og. While both gained the upper hand over the Rovers girls in the league campaign earlier in the season it is envisaged these games will be closely contested with very little between the sides. It is a busy time of year for the players with many of them doubling up to play with their respective underage teams and also Camogie. When the attention turns to Senior football Roscarrbery are the first opponents on Sunday next 28th of July at 11am in Rosscarbery and all support is very much appreciated by the girls.

U13 Camogie
Our U 13 camogie team played Sarsfield`s in the U13 summer league in Rathcormac last weekend. This was a strong Sarsfield`s team but right from the start our girls set out their intention to win this game. We put them under pressure in all areas of the field and didn't allow them to get ahead on the scoreboard. During this first half we got some great scores and were well deserving of our halftime lead.
A few positional switches in the second half worked well for us and we kept the pressure on throughout and didn't allow Sarsfields into the game at any point. The quality of hurling on display and the execution of the basic skills of picking, blocking, hooking and ground striking was excellent on the night and every player deserves congratulations on this great victory over a strong Sarsfield`s team. Well done girls on a great result.
U12 Camogie
Our U12 girls travelled to Dungourney last Saturday morning to play the home team in a league match. We started at 10.30 to avoid the worst of the heat but it was still 24 degrees during the match! We began brightly and scored 3 quick goals to give ourselves a comfortable lead at the end of the first period. Dungourney came back at us in the second period and put us under pressure with a few good scores. In the last period we got a few critical scores and eventually won the game by a comfortable margin. The panel on the day was Caoimhe Hazelwood, Sarah Murphy, Fiona Barry, Katie Quirke, Shauna Hayes, Ella Quinlan, Rachel O Flynn, Sophie Dorgan, Ciara O Flynn and Lucy Hicks. Well done to all the girls on a great display. We are palying St Catherines and Fr O Neills this week and we will let you all know how the girls get on in next week`s notes.
