U14 Ladies Football....
We played Glanmire in a friendly match at the main pitch on Monday, July 1st, which finished on a scoreline of Rovers 6-5 to Glanmire 6-16. This was a very useful run-out for our panel, who have not been in football action since our last league game in May, against a team that recently contested the County U14A final.
U10 Ladies Football
We played Watergrasshill at home last week and all the girls put in a great performance. We played Alice in goal for the first half and Megan for the second and both played well. Kate O'R, Lauren, Jessie Caoimhe K, and Abby were busy at the back as we were under a lot of pressure but all did their best. Ciara and Shauna were trying to send the ball to the forwards as Alanna, Ruby, Shauna L and Caoimhe B were all chasing everything. We made some changes which saw Molly, Aoife and Michelle being introduced and they played well. We were in the lead at half time however Watergrasshill were a lot stronger than us in the second half and ran out winners on the night.
Well done girls
Panel: Alice Murray, Jessie O'Leary, Ciara O'Flynn, Shauna Hayes, Abby Keating, Megan Buckley, Molly O'Connell, Aoife Pegler, Alanna Broderick, Michelle Geaney, Caoimhe Kielty, Caoimhe Barry, Shauna Leddy Duffy, Lauren Kiely, Kate O'Riordan, Ruby Hicks
U14 Camogie
Clonakilty were our visitors to Pynes last Tuesday, June 25th and returned to West Cork with the spoils as our U14s suffered their first defeat of the season. We were missing three of our more experienced players on the night and this did not help against a well-prepared Clonakilty side. Nevertheless, the girls put in a big effort and the scoreline was by no means one-sided. This was our final U14 league game and we look forward to championship action later in the Summer. Well done to all concerned.
U16 Camogie
Our U16s rounded off their league campaign with a narrow win over Banteer at Pynes last Wednesday night, June 26th. This game went down to the wire but a late goal and point secured the points for the Rovers. Well done to the U16 panel and mentors on a good league showing in 2013.
Junior Camogie
Tom Mulcahy and Lily Nugent have been reporting a good response from the junior camogie panel recently. They had a very competitive challenge match versus Glen Rovers recently and followed that up with another friendly against St Fanahans in Ballygiblin last Sunday. Championship is approaching fast and commitment is good all round.
