CLUB FINALS.
Despite the terrible weather conditions in Croke Park last Sunday the All Ireland Club Finals provided great entertainment. With four Clubs new to the scene and the two hurling finalists having won their first ever County Title last Autumn it was an emotional occasion for all involved. I've attended many Club Finals on St Patricks Day but for sheer passion and determination last Sunday was one of the best ever. I felt sorry for Kilcormac- Killoughey, they lost their 'main man' Daniel Currams in an ill-timed practise game just seven days before the Final and then finished with 13 players. St. Thomas' are worthy champions though, with the Burke led side finishing strongly.
When the 'dust had settled' in Croke Park last Sunday and the crowds were gone I met Shane 'Cake' Curran the goalie on the winning St. Bridgets football team. At 42 years of age he had reason to be beaming. Shane was playing adult football years before some of his team maters were even born! A great character he spoke of his pride in 'the little parish' of Kiltoom in Roscommon. Yes indeed, the West is truly Awake after last Sunday.

We have very few photographs from the 1940's and 1950's and would seek any GAA related pictures taken in the parish during this period.
