East Cork League, Saturday, March 9.
Bride Rovers 6-5 Inch Rovers 9-10
Our first league game of the season ended in a high-scoring defeat at the hands of Inch Rovers at Pynes last Saturday. We were very slow to settle and conceded several goals in the first ten minutes and this cost us dearly. We knuckled down though and after a few key positional changes, we started to claw ourselves back into the game. We had the better of much of the game afterwards and closed to within 5 points but Inch got a couple more late goals to secure their win. We put up a big score ourselves which bodes well for the rest of the season.

Bride Rovers 3-0 Glanmire 2-8
We had to play a second game in 2 days because of severe player shortage next weekend and Glanmire kindly agreed to bring the fixture forward and also accommodated us by playing a 14-a-side game. This game was played in dreadful conditions and both sets of players showed great courage and determination. Great credit is due to them all. Glanmire came out on top but the game was well-contested and the scoreline could have been closer if we had taken a few more good chances. In any case, we have now played two of the strongest teams in the group and acquitted ourselves very well indeed for long parts of both games and the panel can now look forward with confidence to the rest of the season. Playing numbers are tight at this grade and if anyone knows anyone interested in playing at U14 level for Bride Rovers ladies, please make that known to the management team of Vincent or Valerie.
