Our Junior C Hurling Championship campaign for 2012 came to an end last Saturday. At Jamesy Kelleher Park we were well beaten by a very strong Midleton outfit. From the lineout against Castlemartyr in the first round we had a few enforced changes. Midleton were quick off the mark and after ten minutes they were ahead by 1 4 to no score. We were very slow to settle but Midleton were simply on top all over the field. A point from Pat Cotter gave us some hope and when a long distance shot from Daniel Lane ended up in the net we were back in the game. With our half backs beginning to dominate we began to get more possession up front but found scores hard to get. Daniel lane added two more points and at half time just five points separated the teams, 1 8 to 1 3.Though outplayed in the first half a good start in the second half could see us make an impression in the game. It was not to be as Midleton simply continued scoring and added 1 7 to their tally while we managed just a point apiece from Pat Cotter and Daniel Lane. Midleton won in the end by 2 15 to 1 5. It was a disappointing end to the campaign but credit to all our players who played with this team, our third xv during the season. Regardless of results it is a vital role of the Club to provide games for all players who wish to play hurling. Thanks lads for giving of yere very best both in the championship and the East Cork League. A special tribute to James Hogan who lined out just a few days after the death of his father Sham. Sham was a very proud Bride Rovers man, he loved the games and the club and enjoyed many great occasions with the Club down the years. Sincere sympathy to Geraldine and all the family.
