Senior Hurling on Saturday.
On this coming Saturday afternoon we fight for survival at the Senior Grade of the Cork County Championship for 2013. We face Cloyne in the 2012 Relegation Final in Pairc Ui Rinn. The winners of this game will participate in the County Senior HC in the coming year. The losers will be regraded to the Premier Intermediate grade. When we won the County Intermediate Title in 2003 we went up Senior for the first time in the Club's history. Since then we've competed at the highest level and have given some magnificent displays. We reached the County Final in 2008 and lost by a point. We also reached two Senior League Finals, a Munster Senior League Final and East Cork Senior Final. Unfortunately we lost all these games by very small margins. It was the same in this years County Senior Hurling Championship campaign. We took on Erins Own in the first round in Carrigtwohill and lost by a solitary point. In our Round Two game in Pairc UI Rinn Na Piarsaigh defeated us by three points and the margin against Blackrock was similar in Round Three. All these three games could easily have been won, especially the Blackrock game where we were well in control at half time. Our big problem has been consistency or lack of it when it comes to scoring. WE scored no goal in any of our three championship games this year. In the Erins Own game we got 19 points, just 10 against Na Piarsaigh and 14 versus Blackrock. At Senior level a team needs to be regularly scoring 126 to 20 points per game. Our task on Saturday is a mammoth one as we face Cloyne. Cloyne have contested three Senior County Finals in a row and are physically a very strong side/ We've never before met Cloyne in the Senior Championship. Back in the 1970's we had some great games at East Cork Junior level with Cloyne. The Relegation Final is the Final that no team wants to qualify for but when we're in it we must try and win it. It wont be easy but we are in with a good chance - go for it lads.
The game is timed for 3.45 in Pairc UI Rinn on this Saturday coming September the 15th.

MINOR FOOTBALLERS WELL BEATEN.
Our Minor Football team departed from the County Championship at Carrignavar on Wednesday evening last. We faced a very strong Ballinora team who had beaten us well in the League earlier this season. Our lads gave their all but we were overwhelmed by the Mid Cork side. The final scoreline was Ballinora 6 10 Bride Rovers 1 7.
Team & scorers Frank Hogan, Eoin Howard, Jacob Macak, Podge Noonan, Sean Cotter, Shane Walsh (1 0), Jack Kearney, Cian O Connor, , Dave Quinn, Liam O Leary, (0 1),Jamie Buckley, William Finnegan (0 4), Tadhg O Sullivan, Dean Linehan(0 1), Stephen O Leary. Subs; Ryan Prendergast, Darren Moore (0 1), James Barry, Colm Howard, Cian Siuil.
This was a disappointing end to the season for the Minor players. This year the players mentors, trainers and selectors put in a huge effort. A record number of training sessions were held and we played more minor games this year than in any of the last three seasons.
