Senior Hurling Championship Sunday Night

Bride Rovers Senior Hurling team travel to Pairc Ui Rinn on this Saturday night to play Na Piarsaigh in the second round of the Cork County Senior Hurling Championship (8pm Start).
Both teams were defeated in their opening rounds games. Bride Rovers were narrowly defeated by Erins Own on a scoreline of 2-14 to 0-19, while Douglas had a 2-14 to 0-12 win over Na Piarsaigh.
Na Piarsaigh will provide a very stiff challenge for Bride Rovers having accounted for them in Round 1 of the 2011 Senior Hurling Championship played in Watergrasshill.
The game is timed for 8pm in Pairc Ui Rinn and all support on the night would be greatly appreciated. We wish the team and management well and if they show the same spirit and fight that they produced against Erins Own then we have every chance of a victory.

Cavanaghs of Fermoy Avondhu/Imokilly Junior Hurling League
Our Junior Hurlers travelled to Shanagarry on Saturday 2nd June to fulfil our league fixture v Russell Rovers. The weather on the evening was deplorable with a constant downpour and a cross field wind.
We opened well for a change and had 3 points on the board thanks to Stephen Pratt and Dave Burke in the early minutes, we maintained the pressure on the opposition for the remainder of the first half and lead by 0-9 to 0-5 with true aggressive Rovers Hurling.
We opened the 2nd half slowly and conceded 3 points from frees due to some careless play but I suppose the conditions can be blamed for some of the bad defending in this period.
We again took the initiative due to strong play by Dave, Pat, Richie, Stephen & Terry in the middle third of the field and secured some further good scores mainly from Dave. We never lost the lead in this game and our defence held out while being under severe pressure as Russell Rovers attempted to gain parity and 3 further excellent points from Dave had us winning by 0-16 to 0-13.
Team: Frank Hogan, Fergus Collins, Brendan O'Driscoll, Trevor Moloney, Sean O'Brien, Aidan Collins, Jim O'Connor, Pat Walsh, Stephen Pratt, Terry Broderick, Richie Cahill, Dave Burke, Damien Buckley, Alan O'Keeffe and Gavin Quill.
Subs: Jamie Buckley, Kieran Wolfe, Richard Foley and James O'Sullivan.
Scorers: Dave Burke 0-12, Richie Cahill 0-1, Stephen Pratt 0-1,Damien Buckley 0-1 and Terry Broderick 0-1.
The Junior Hurlers are due to play Castlemartyr next in the league and this is fixed for Sunday night but may be changed.
