On Monday night the Bride Rovers Senior Hurlers played Killeagh in Rathcormac in the RED FM Sponsored Cork County Senior Hurling League.
Playing aginst a strong wind in the opening the Rovers took the game to Killeagh, working very hard hooking & blocking and putting pressure on the Killeagh players in possession at every opportunity. Joe Deane opened Killeagh's account with a pointed free which Barry Johnson replied with a pointed free also. Joe Deane continued to be a threat and added two more points before a brace from Barry Johnson had the sides level at 0-3 a piece. Richie Cahill put the Rovers in front and a great move involving Padraig Murphy & Daniel Dooley resulted in Michael Collins scoring a fine goal, Michael quickly added a point to extend the Rovers lead to five points. Two further pointed frees by Barry Johnson and a David Cahill point for Killeagh saw the Rovers lead at half time 1-07 to 0-04.
The second half was a closely fought affair, the Rovers added a further 1-05 to our half time tally. The goal coming from a long range shot by Richie Cahill while Barry Johnson, Padraig Murphy & Michael Collins scored the points. This was a very workmanlike performance by the Rovers after the disappointment of the two previous games where every member of the team worked hard.
