This weekend the higher education hurling community celebrates the centenary of the greatest competition in inter-varsity hurling, The Irish Daily Mail Fitzgibbon Cup. Since its inauguration in 1912, the competition has provided students the opportunity to students all over the island to compete against their counterparts and is seen as a ultimate testing ground for those looking to prove themselves ready for senior inter-county selection.
Hosted by UCC in the recently redeveloped Mardyke and the Farm, 9 matches will take place over the 2 days in the 3 competitions (fixtures attached below). Cork and Limerick Institutes and Universities renew rivalries in Friday's semi-finals in the Mardyke in two mouth watering contests (CIT v LIT 1.30pm, UL v UCC 3.30PM).
Weekend tickets (which includes access to the Mardyke on both days) can now be purchased online - just click here.
The final will be played at 3pm on Saturday at the Mardyke, and will be shown live on TG4. For details of all fixtures, see http://www.he.gaa.ie.
