Jackpot €20,600 goes to Kildorrery..
Well the Lotto Jackpot has been won after a great run. Last Tuesday the four numbers that were drawn were  7,11,19 and 21 and when the tickets were checked we had a winner, Kathleen Dwane from Kildorrery was the lucky holder of that winning ticket- well done Kathleen.  This weekend coming is probably the busiest single championship weekend we have had with a number of years. Our Senior, Junior A and Junior C hurling teams are all out in Round 2 of their respective Championships.  All three teams face sides that have all ready won their opening tie – we won two and drew the Junior C game. Add into the mix the fact that on Sunday we host another big County Board game Killeagh v Ballyhea in the Senior A Championship- truly never a dull moment!
UNDER 12’s PLAY 4 IN A ROW.
The Under12s have played 4 matches in the past 12 days and started with a Team 2 football match against St.Finbarrs on Thursday 8th August. It was a tough 50 mins for our lads but they battled well. The Barrs started the first half strongly and quickly had 2-3 on the scoreboard before we registered our first score. Two more goals before half time meant that Rovers faced an uphill battle in the second half. They didn't drop the heads and scored 1-4 of our own before the final whistle went. Final score: St.Finbarrs 6-8 Bride Rovers 1-5. Team: 1. Ryan Hogan 2. Oisin Dorgan 3. James O'Leary 4. Scott Lynch 5. Luke Fitzgerald 6. Callum Dixon 7. Liam Harrington 8. Jack Roddis 9. On Saturday Aug 10th, it was Team 1 in action in hurling against Nemo Rangers in Páirc na Bríde. Kai Roddis got Rovers off to a flyer with an early goal. Nemo responded with a point of their own. A Conor Healy point and two from Theo Byrd extended the lead for Rovers before Theo rattled the back of the net after some good footwork to evade his man. Jack Fitz got a point from a 65 and just on half time, Adam Hackett got Rovers third goal to make it 3-4 to 0-1 at half time. The second half started with Theo getting a point off a free before Conor Healy went on a mazy run and finished it brilliantly to the corner. Theo went on to get two more points and Adam Hackett also put two over, one from a free. Nemo responded with two frees of their own before Conor (1) and Jack Fitz (1) added further scores for Rovers. Right on full time, Theo completed the hat-trick of goals to top off a good performance from Rovers. Final score: Bride Rovers 5-11 Nemo Rangers 0-4. Team: 1. Noah Collins 2. James O'Leary 3. Tommy Conway 4. Scott Lynch 5. Seán O'Dowd 6. Jack Fitzgerald 7. Alex McCarthy 8. Conor Healy 9. Matthew Finn 10. Kai Roddis 11. Adam Hackett 12. Jack Barry 13. Harry O'Keeffe 14. Theo Byrd 15. Onto Monday night last, and it was the visit of the Glen to play our Team 2 in hurling. The Glen got a penalty after 3 mins which was dispatched and went on to add a second 3 mins later when their tall full forward got his second of the evening. Two minutes later, the full forward completed his hat-trick and got a point and, 10 minutes in, Rovers found themselves 10 points down. A few positional changes were needed and started to take effect when Theo Byrd got our first point of the game. However, the Glen kept their foot on the pedal and added another 2-3 before half time to make it 5-4 to 0-1 at the break. Stern words were had at half time and it looked ominous when the Glen added three quick points in the first 5 mins of the second half. However, Theo Byrd rattled the Glen net 8 mins in and it spurred our lads into life. The Glen also added 1-1 during this time but it was now far more noticeable that our lads were starting to stand up and be counted. Conor Dorgan got a goal with 10 mins left and two mins later, Seán O'Dowd got another. With 3 mins to go, Seán got a great goal, before the Glen finished with a pointed free. Final score: Bride Rovers 4-1 Glen Rovers 6-7. Team: 1. Oisín Dorgan 2. Liam Harrington 3. Callum Dixon 4. Cameron Hoare 5. Scott Lynch 6. Luke Fitzgerald 7. Conor Dorgan 8. Jack Roddis 9. Jack Barry 10. Kai Roddis 11. Eoghan Croke 12. Jack Gubbins 13. Cian Barry 14. Theo Byrd 15. Jack O'Donovan 16. Seán O'Dowd 17. Darragh Feeney 18. Dara Murphy
On Sunday morning, our Team 1 football league campaign drew to a close. Glanmire were the visitors for match 5. Glanmire were on top in the first few minutes but through some heroic defending, Rovers forced a lot of wides before getting the first score of the game. On 8 mins, a great run from Tommy Conway in midfield forced a save from the Glanmire keeper but Conor Dorgan was on hand to finish the ball to the net to put Rovers a goal up. Over the next 15 minutes, Glanmire forced their way back into the game and got 3 points to level the game. However, 2 mins before half time, a surging Conor Healy run was blocked but the ball fell to Alex McCarthy who flicked the ball into the goal to leave the half time score Rovers 2-0 Glanmire 0-3. The second half started the same as the first with Glanmire having a lot of territory but resilient defending forced more wides. On 30 mins, an Adam Hackett burst up the field fed the ball to Kai Roddis who finished emphatically to the back of the net. Kai added a superb point from a tight angle 2 mins later and Rovers were now purring. Glanmire got the next two from play but Rovers again bounced back and following great link play from Conor Healy, Adam Hackett and Patrick O'Regan, the ball fell to Kai Roddis who volleyed the ball to the back of the net for his second. Rovers were now well on top and creating lots of chances but Glanmire still looked dangerous on the break. With 10 mins to go, a great through ball by Kai Roddis was tapped around the keeper by Jack Gubbins who finished in style from a tight angle. With 3 mins to go, Jack Fitzgerald completed the scoring with a rampaging run through the middle and a goal to cap off a good performance. Final score: Bride Rovers 6-1 Glanmire 0-5. Team: 1. Eoghan Croke 2. James O'Leary 3. Jack Fitzgerald 4. Liam Harrington 5. Conor Dorgan 6. Adam Hackett 7. Seán O'Dowd 8. Tommy Conway 9. Matthew Finn 10. Kai Roddis 11. Conor Healy 12. Jack Barry 13. Daniel Maher 14. Alex McCarthy 15. Patrick O'Regan 16. Jack Gubbins 17. Jack Roddis Team 2 have a football match against St.Michaels on Wednesday night at 7pm in St.Michaels. On Sunday, Team 2 play hurling against St.Colmcilles at 11am before Team 1 take to the pitch on Monday night against Crosshaven.
HURLING ALL THE WAY.
Our three hurling teams are out in Championship fixtures this weekend. Friday sees the Seniors make the shoer trip tp Pairc Caitrionaigh in Ballynoe to face Castlelyons. Castlelyons beat Fermoy in their first game and we had a good win over Cloyne but ‘twas hard to read much into those games in reality.  Hopefully the lads are all injury free and ready for a huge challenge. As we say to all our sides- go for it lads. The following night- Saturday 24th we travel to Glenville to meet Carrignavar in the East Cork Junior A grade hurling. Carrig are the hot favourites to win out in East Cork so will be hard to beat. We beat Carrigtwohill in Round 1 and still have to play Killeagh, go for it lads. On Monday then we travel to Cobh with our Junior C hurling team to meet Cobh’s second team. This will be a tough ask but in fairness our lads played great hurling  Russell Rovers in their first game which ended in a draw -go for it lads.  A note for our supporters -the three games in ballynoe, Glenville and Cobh all start at 7pm.

MATCHES IN THE PITCH.
On Saturday night las we had just a handy crowd for the County IF game between Mitchelstown and Ballinora. Mitchelstown had beaten St Vincents whilst Ballinora lost to Glanworth in Round 1 so for the Mid Cork side it was make or break.  After a close game Ballinora came out on top by 1 12 to 1 10. Thanks to all who helped our on the night. Next Sunday we host Ballyhea and Killeagh in Round 2 of the SAHC. This fixture should attract a big crowd with throw-in at 4 pm. We will need plenty help again so if you can help be there at 2.30.
