Calm before Hectic week..
In comparison to what’s to come this week is a relatively quiet one. Our Junior C hurlers played their opening Round Robin championship game at the weekend and the Minors had a good win. We had our Executive Meeting in Bartlemy Hall on Monday night. We host a Co Board game on Saturday night and last Tuesday our Lotto Jackpot of €20,400 was not won. Congrats to Cork’s two All Ireland winning Camogie teams in Croke Park last Sunday
EAST CORK Junior C. Hurling Championship. Our third adult hurling team started their Championship Campaign in East Cork last Saturday evening when Russell Rovers were visitors to Pairc na Bride. It was mighty to see close to thirty players togged out for this game. It was a great game of hurling with the Shanagarry side ahead in the first half. Eventually we got on top and led by 1 17 to 0 20 with ten minutes to go and looked set for a win. Russell Rovers however finished strongly with six points- the levelling score coming in the 36th minute of the second half. Overall it was a superb display from our lads who have two more Group games to play v Cobh on Monday week August 26th and v St. Itas on September 1st .

DAVY GOING TO THE GLENS.
Hurling folk across the country will be delighted to hear that Davy Fitzgerald has been appointed as Coach to the Antrim Senior Hurling team. Those involved with hurling in the Glens are nothing only passionate about our native game. Love him or hate him everyone agrees that Davy is a hurling evangelist and his love of the game is infectious. Antrim have been participating in the Leinster Championship in Recent years and have had a few good result. One of their big problems is the distance they have to travel even for challenge games - perhaps some extra GAA funding should be considered for the Ulster men to help meet their travel costs. Best of luck to Davy.
