Juniors in Friday League Final, Cork Double done and in the dust, Jackpot at €19,200
Our Junior Hurlers are in the Final of the Amarenco East Cork Junior Hurling League Division 2 on this Friday night June 28th. Last year we were in Division 1 but got relegated and now after a 7 game league campaign we will be back in the top flight again next year. Of our seven games this season we won 5 and lost two -one of these was a heavy defeat to Midleton who we meet in the League Final on Friday night. We started on March 10th with a trip to Aghavine in Ballymacoda and a 1 15 to 1 9 victory over Fr O Neills. Two weeks later at Clonmult Memorial Park the Magpies beat us well on a scoreline of 3 15 to 1 14. We defeated Castlelyons by 1 15 to 0 15 and the Hill by 0 18 to 0 10. Killeagh came to Rathcormac and had a three point victory 0 18 to 0 15. At Magners Hill in Youghal we won by 1 14 to 0 15 and then wrapped up the league programme with a win at home over St Catherines 3 15 to 1 15. Midleton finished Top of the Table on 12 points, we were second with Fr O Neills on ten points each. Because we had defeated Fr O Neills in the first game we advanced to the League Final. Midleton will be favourites no doubt as they’ve won this league a few times in recent years. Still our lads will surely put in a huge effort in this Final The games is fixed for half 7 on Friday night but no venue had been finalised at the time of writing. Go for it lads. The Cup for the Div 2 JHL is the Mossy O Sullivan Cup – named in honour of Boulta, Ballynoe Gael Mossy O Sullivan who was a longstanding delegate and GPC member of the East Cork Board. LEAGUE FINAL IS ON IN COBH ON FRIDAY NIGHT.
PITCH DEVELOPMENT.
We have some good news regarding the Pynes development with Hourihan's due back this week to commence works on Pitch No.2 across the top of the site. This means there will be changes in regards to access from now on. From this week on, access to Pynes for all GAA activities will be via the lower gate into the field only for the duration of the works. There will be no access allowed via to top gate. The Hourihan's work area while be separated from the open playing pitches with Red and White danger tape for the duration of the works. It is really important that nobody crosses into the work areas at any time. It is also critical that parents supervise all children who are in Pynes at all times duration the construction works. It is vital that all Team Managements who have sessions in Pynes please advise all parents in the WhatsApp groups to use the lower gates and inform opposition Managements of same before they arrive to Pynes.
NO 1990 REPEAT THIS YEAR.
With ten minutes to go in Grattan Emmets Ground in Enniskeen last Sunday Corks ‘Double Dreams’ were still very much alive. The day before the hurlers had defeated Dublin to get a handy semi final berth against Limerick! John Cleary’s men looked to be in a great position to kick on and get to last 8. It wasn’t to be however as Louth came good at the end for a first championship victory over Cork since musician, singer and fine footballer Dermot O Brien led Louth to an All Ireland Final win over the Rebels back in September 1957.
MINOR HURLING
.Bride Rovers Minor Hurling put in a good performance and a convincing win in a Challenge Game v Kilworth Araglin Og In Pairc Na Bride on the 19th June.
This was another challenge game arranged by Rovers Management that was played during the break for the Junior and Leaving Cert Exams, with a few players missing with Exams and Holidays from both side it gave the opportunity to others to get game time.
Even at 7.45pm It was the warmest part of the day at about 20 degrees when we took to Pairc Na Bride and the game took off straight away from the referees Shane Hodgins first whistle. Both sides got a good start with some early scores, we are using these challenge games and the last two League game to build up to Championship and to be fair to the starting 15 there was some very nice play with good passing and a hard work rate. Neither side gave an inch and it was physical and hard in the tackling that lead to good turnovers and Goals for the Rovers, Kilworth Araglin Og also scored their only goal of the game from a 20 yard free, Rovers had half time lead of 2-9 to 1-7.
The changes were being made and subs were used in the first and second half giving game time to all 21 Players available. Our hurling and movement was better throughout the game and in the second half was no different with players dominating their positions and working honestly for each other. It was a good work out for the lads and they added 12 more points in the second half from both play & frees to win the comfortably.
Bigger challenges ahead but really well done to all involved. Next Hurling League match v St Catherines next Wednesday 26th June in Rathcormac.

UNDER 14’s PIPPEED.
Rebel Og Under14 East Division 1 Shield Final Bride Rovers 3-7 Aghada 3-8
After an epic hours football in Dungourney on Sunday evening, the u14s came up short by the minimum. Having won against Aghada in last year's final they weren't lacking motivation and despite a great goal by Fionn C after 2 minutes Aghada had a 6 point lead at the water break. While the lads hadn't done much wrong often the final pass went astray and Aghada cleared. We settled in the second quarter but only got 2 points for our effort to leave it at half-time Bride Rovers 1-2 Aghada 2-3. The second half followed a similar pattern with our lads playing great football but not able to get the scoreboard showing it. Aghada grabbed another goal to go 7 points up. This started the come back. Fionn C grabbed another goal. Fionn L added 2 from frees. Cody got 2 from play after great teamwork to get the ball up the field. Aghada got 3 more points to leave a goal in it. After applying huge pressure we got a goal from Cody. Level with time up we thought. However there was time for Aghada to work the ball up the pitch and win a free. Very harsh on the boys after such a brave effort. From Dominiks (joint captain) in goals to our excellent backs Alex (joint captain) Sam, Zack, Sean H, Cody and Cormac. Liam and Ciaran in midfield who covered the whole pitch. Our forwards who carved out scores in very little space were David, Fionn L, Sean O'L, Luke, Fionn C and Daniel. Big thanks to Henry, Cathal, Ollie and Padraig who stepped up from u13 and played a huge part as we were missing 7 lads due to holidays. PLAY IT AGAIN SAM.
The preliminary Quarter Finals of the All Ireland SFC for the Sam Maguire Cup took place last weekend. Strange then wasn’t it that two players named Sam had vital if different roles to play in these games. On Saturday evening Mayo held a one point lead against Derry in the 74th minute. Then Sam Callinan had a great chance to double the Westerners lead. He tried for a fisted point but the ball came back off the crossbar. From the kickout Derry attacked, got the equalizer taking the game to extra time – this produced no winner and so it was on to penalties where Derry won. The following day in Enniskeen the Rebels were ahead by a single point coming up to the end. Louth equalized and when a draw looked odds on Sam Mulroy kicked a free over the bar for a famous win for the Wee County.
“WILL WE TOSS FOR IT?”
God be with the days when the first Sunday of September was known right across the world as All Ireland Hurling Final Sunday. It was so very special and Irish people right across the globe anticipated both the Minor and Senior Finals -part of a Super Hurling Sunday -will we ever see it again? This year the Senior Final on July 21st will have no curtain raiser, not great value for €100. The All Ireland Minor Finalists Kilkenny and Tipperary tossed a coin for ‘home’ venue so on Saturday evening next Nowlan Prak will stage the Final. It’s a terrible situation that our young hurlers are denied the chance to play in Croke Park. Same with Armagh and Derry in the Minor Football Final -will it get to be played in HQ with Senior Football Final -the answer is NO.
FIXTURE.

Bartlemy Hall History Book Launch 1999 Back L to R Bill O Callaghan Litho Press, Brian Barrett Chairman Cork GAA Board, Gerard Lane Chairman East Cork Board, Fr Seanie Barry, Bill O Keeffe Litho Press Front Micheal O' Muircheartaigh , Brendan O Driscoll Bride Rovers Club Chairman & John Arnold PRO
It was an unforgettable night in Bartlemy Hall. The Club had been reformed here at a meeting in late 1964 and now 35 years later we were celebrating our history and winning the East Cork and County JH titles in 1998. Michael regaled us with stories and tales, spoke of Seanie Barry in 1966 and stressed the importance of the Club in the parish, the Club that means so much, the Club that is the heartbeat of the GAA in every community. He travelled back to Dublin that night. Would he take 'Expenses' ? you must be joking! He said t'was an honour to launch the book. Slan a chara agus go raibh maith agat
