Our Senior Hurlers went down to two late goals v Newtownshandrum on last Friday Night at Pairc na Bríde Bride Rovers 1-15 Newtownshandrum 3-16. Our two remaining games in the Div 2 League are against Erins Own and Killeagh

Celtic Challenge Cup U17 Hurling

Congrats to Cormac Barry & Jack Mannix who both plated with the East Cork u17 Hurlers at the weekend in Nowlan Park. East Cork defeated Dublin, with both players playing a starring role. Cormac scored 1-3 and Jack 0.2 Well done to both boys, future stars for Bride Rovers.

Offaly U20’s

Ever since Offaly came to Rathcormac in June 1985 to officially open Pairc na Bride there has been a close affection to the faithful county. Last Saturday night in Nowlan Park showed Offaly at their very best, their brand of hurling, skill level and sportsmanship was there for all to see, in winning their first all Ill Ireland title at this level. For a county so small to have 20,000 people ( a quarter of their population) in attendance was a sight to behold. They Join Cork and Galway as the only counties to win titles in both codes at Minor u21 and Senior. To see this young bunch of U20 hurlers get their just rewards for all the hard work they have put in was simply joyous.

Cork Teams

Cork Hurlers will know their opponents after Sunday’s joe McDonagh Cup Final. Cork will play the winner of Laois and Offaly away on Sat15th or Sunday 16th in Portlaoise or Tullamore. The Cork Footballers play Tyrone the same weekend at a neutral venue, hopefully the ccc can make a double header possible for Cork Supporters. It would be very unfair to ask Cork supporters to travel both days.

Field Development

Preparatory work Drainage and Ducting is underway for pitch number 2 at Pynes. Houlihan’s Sportsfield Developers are due to begin very shortly, and we expect work to be completed on that field over the next number of weeks.

On a sad note, we extend our sympathy to the family of James Healy Ennis who was overseeing our development at Pynes and had been so helpful to us with pitch number 1. James passed away rather suddenly though he had been ill for some time. May he rest in Peace.

Our sympathy to the Geary Family Lisgoold on the passing of Jim after a short illness. Jim was a stalwart of Lisgoold as a player, administrator and sponsor, he saw the bad days but Lisgoold successes in recent years were as a result of the work he and others had put in. May he rest in Peace
