U21 AHC..
Páirc Na Bride looked fantastic with the Grass Cut & the Pitch Lined out for the Bride Rovers U21 A Hurling Championship v Killeagh last Saturday on the 25th and they definitely brought their game to us where scoring difference mattered on the day.
Right from the first whistle Killeagh took an early lead while we came close with some early shots and wides, we settled in to the game and won some good possession and replied with a few points. It was a fast and physical game with a great show of hurling and scoring and defending from both sides.
We were eventually awarded a penalty as Louis Roche was wrestled to the ground inside the square and Adam placed in the top left corner of the net, followed by a few more pints by Ronan & Louis were swapped by both sides to have the game Level at Half time.
Killeagh were looking for their first win in this competition and the second half was equally tough and fast as Killeagh ran at our defence breaking through to scoring 3 Goals in the game, one of which was a 21 yard free. With a lot of hard earned frees and more great scores from Adam, Ronan, Louis, Edmond & Frank for the Rovers we were holding in the game but couldn’t get through to find a second Gaol that was needed.
Scoring Difference mattered in this game and Killeagh needed to win by 5 points or more to progress, we knew this, and our young men gave as good as they got with real honesty all over the field and specially in our defence. Killeagh were given every opportunity with some very soft frees awarded and an astonishing 10 minutes of injury time played by the referee. Bride Rovers progress to the Semi Final V Midelton on the 9th of December

AGM REPORT.
Continuing our report on our recent AGM the following was the Report from Junior A Grade Football manager, Terry Broderick.
East Cork Junior A Football Championship We had a great win against Castlemartyr in the first round. It was certainly our best performance of the year with almost everything we did on the night going to plan. In the second round we met Midleton with a very depleted team. We were in the hunt up to the first 20 minutes playing against a gale force wind, so things were looking good. However, we conceded 3:02 in 7 minutes which made a comeback almost impossible. In the third round we beat Youghal, again with a very strong performance. With this result we qualified for the Quarter Final against Carrig nabhFear. This game was played in Glenville, the lads played very well. The link play between backs, through midfield and on to the forwards was super, playing against a strong breeze. We were four points down at half time. In the second half we didn’t take advantage of the wind advantage and Carrig na bhFear settled more into the game. An unfortunate mistake allowed Carrig to get a goal which put us on the back foot. We lost 3:12 to 1:10. I have to say we had many ‘ups and downs’ throughout the season, however from my point of view there were more ‘ups’. We had almost 40 players playing for us over the season, for many it was their first experience playing junior football and they excelled. There is a good spread of both younger and experienced players going forward and they must be encouraged to keep the football going within the club. With a little more effort there is another East Cork in these lads with progression very possible. I would like to thank, the executive for their help throughout the year, the hurling management for facilitating football matches and training, my fellow selectors Richie Cahill and Donal Ryan and any others that helped us throughout the year. Lastly, I urge the players to continue with their football careers. It will only benefit your hurling going forward and we would like to thank you for your commitment throughout the year. Terry Broderick.

We wish both local Clubs all the very best. By next week both Clubs should be preparing for All Ireland Semi Finals.

Thanks to Brendan O’Driscoll Jr. for undertaking this work. Thanks to our CE Scheme workers, Martin McHugh, and Paddy Donoghue. Thanks also to John Murphy for managing the Sciath na Scoil and college games and for his day-to-day involvement with the grounds.
