SHL V Courceys..

Late Goals Deny Senior Hurlers...

Two late goals denied the Bride Rovers a victory over Courcey Rovers in Round 7 of the Red FM sponsored Division 2 Hurling League on a beautiful summer evening in Ballinspittle on Friday last.

Bride Rovers got off to a dream start to lead 2-06 to 0-2 after the first quarter with points from Cillian Tobin, Brian Roche, Louie Roche and three pointed frees from Adam Walsh. Two superbly worked team goals were finished to the Courceys net by William Finnegan and Josh Ahern.

Courcey Rovers battled back into the game and won a penalty which was duly converted, a second goal soon followed to leave the half time score 2-09 to 2-05.

The second half saw the sides swap points for most of the half with Adam Walsh bagging 7 points.

With minutes to go Bride led 2-16 to 2-11 but Courcey’s grabbed a goal against the run of play to reduce the deficit to 2 points. Jason Mannix restored the Rovers 3-point lead moments later. But with the last play of the game, Courcey’s played a long range free into the square and scrambled the ball to the net to claim a draw. Overall, this was a good team performance, and this point ensures we will play in Division 2 in 2024.
