U14 Girls Become The One-Point Experts..
Junior Camogie
Our junior camogie panel lined out at home against Buttevant on Friday
evening in the county semi final. From the outset, Rovers were the stronger
side and they led at half time on a score of 2 05 to 1 01. The second half
was pretty much a repeat of that and the home side won fairly strongly to
proceed to the final. The score at the full time whistle was Rovers 2 12
Buttevant 1 05. Most of our scores came from Chloe O'Flynn who notched up a
super tally of 1 10. Katie Quirke scored our second goal, Jen Cahill and
Lily Murray scored one point each. Well done ladies on a superb team
performance, each and every player showing great spirit and putting in
trojan work at every position on the pitch. Details of the final are to be
confirmed. Keep and eye on Twitter and come along and support the team and
management in their county final.
Senior Football
Our senior football panel travelled to Clonakilty on Sunday for their final
game in the round robin series. This was a crucial match for Rovers as they
needed to secure a win in order to proceed to the championship semi final.
Clonakilty opened the score with two points before Leah Hallihan responded
with a goal. This settled the team and for the rest of the game, Rovers
were really in command. The score at half time was 3 08 to 0 05 with the
remainder of the scores in the first half coming from Grace Kearney and
Katie Quirke. The team maintained their composure in the second half,
despite two goals from the home side, and Rovers won comfortably 5. 14 to 2
06, our scores in the second half coming from Grace Kearney, Aoife Hurley
and Leah Hallihan. Rovers will now play their county semi final away to
Eire Og this coming weekend, details to be confirmed. All support for the
team and management would be greatly welcome.
U14 Football & Camogie
Briderovers u14 girls have had a busy two weeks in both football and
camogie. On Saturday 10th, we welcomed Bandon to Pairc na Brìde to contest
the County B quarter final. In a pulsating game, Bride Rovers came out on
top by one point on a scoreline of 4 11 to 6 04.
The following day, Barryroe were the visitors to Rathcormac to play us in
our final round robin game of the C County Camogie League with both teams
needing to win to qualify for the semi-final of the County. Again,
this game was from end to end with Barryroe going in at half-time
leading by nine points. But until the final whistle is blown, this
bunch of girls have proved that they will never give up. They went
onto score 3 01 and prevented Barryroe from scoring to win by the
smallest of margins on a scoreline of 5 03 to 5 02.
Last Sunday, our footballers were in action in the semi-final of the County,
this time playing away to Ballincollig. With Ballincollig being strong
favourites to win the County, Bride Rovers went in to this game knowing that
they would have to perform at the very best to come out on top.
Rovers started the game at great pace and scored 1 03 before Ballincollig
registered their first score. At the half-time whistle, we led on a scoreline
of 1 06 to 1 04.
The second half started as the first had finished going from end to
end with theBride Rovers' defence standing up to whatever Ballincollig
could throw atthem and at the other end we kept tacking on our own few scores. With the
game level and in the balance with five minutes to go, we got a free on the
Ballincollig 21 yard line and up stepped Ashling to score and we held out
for another famous one point win.

This bunch of girls have given us some great days out but the past two
weeks has to be up there with the best. This coming Sunday, our girls
make the long journey to play Kilbree in the Camogie County
Semi-Final. All support welcome. The football final will be against
the winners of Kilshannig and St. Vals and will most likely be played
on the first weekend of October and again, all support for this match
would be greatly appreciated. Best of luck to the panel and
management.
