U13 Munster Development Blitz
Well done to our under 13 players Emer Hallihan, Ella Collins, Teegan Murphy, Mikayla Allen and Julianne Barry who participated in the Munster Development Blitz in Mallow on Saturday morning. [Pictured]
Teams from North Cork, East Cork, Waterford, Kerry, Tipperary and Mid Cork participated and each team played two 10 minute games and two 15 minute games. This event was very well organised by Munster LGFA and the girls enjoyed their development training over the last eight weeks.
Minor Football
Our minor ladies lined out away to Fermoy on Tuesday evening the 23rd August. From the outset, Rovers led the way and really remained in command of the game until the final whistle with some great passing movement going forward, steady in defence and pretty accurate on target. Well done to the entire panel and it was great to see all players come off the bench and get game time. Final Score: Bride Rovers 6 10, Fermoy 2 10.
Scorers: Caoimhe Barry (3 02), Leah Hallihan (2 02), Nikki Parle (1 01), Clodagh Flaherty and Lily Murray (02 each) and Ciara Morrisson (01).
The next game is at home to Glanmire on Thursday evening, details TBC.
Senior Football
On Sunday afternoon, our senior ladies travelled to Aghada for the second round of the championship. This was always going to be a tough battle and so it proved with the teams trading scores for most of the first half and just a point separating the sides at the whistle, Bride Rovers 07 Aghada 06. Our ladies pulled ahead in the second half and led by four points with about fifteen minutes to go before Aghada scored two points and then struck home with their first goal to lead by a point. Aghada scored a second goal before we narrowed the gap to one point with a well converted penalty. Unfortunately, time was not on our side and Aghada ran out eventual winners by the narrowest of margins 1 12 to 2 10. Well done to Bride Rovers on a very strong and spirited performance. Next game will be against St. Vals at home on Sunday at 4.00 p.m.
Scorers: Katie Quirke (1 08), Grace Kearney and Leah Hallihan (02 each).
