Seniors Draw, Juniors win..
Though the nights lately were more like September than July the games are going ahead. It’s only the first week of July but already our RED FM Senior Hurling League campaign is finished. Same story with our East Cork Division 2 Junior The theory is to have the Leagues done and dusted before the Championship begins which is logical in one way but if a team gets a bad run in the Championship, in any grade, the 2022 season could be over by mid August. On Friday last we were away to Charleville in our last SHL game and on Sunday night Carrigtwohill came to Pairc na Bride to wrap up the Division 2 Programme. Saturday was red-letter day for our Juveniles as they travelled to Celbridge in Kildare for an Inter County Tournament. Our Lotto Jackpot was not won on the last Tuesday of June so for the first July Draw last Tuesday night we had a brilliant jackpot of €21,800. We have Junior A Football Championship this coming Friday night. Kieran Kingston is gone and Pat Ryan takes over the Cork Hurlers until 2025.Only the wily Kilkenny Cats stand between Limerick and a Three in a Row of Liam McCarthy Cup wins.
LOTTO.
Our Lotto Draw on Tuesday 28th of June 2022 was for a Jackpot of €21,600 and the four numbers drawn were 01, 08, 20 & 23. Well done to our lucky dip €30 cash winners: Brian Murphy, Raheen, Tom Mulcahy, Bartlemy, Catriona O’Donovan, Kildinan Linda Cahill, Shanowen and Shane Molan, Ballyporeen. This week's jackpot was an incredible €21,800 on last Tuesday night July 5th. Tickets for the weekly Lotto are just €2 each and can be purchased from Club members, in local business outlets and online at https://bit.ly/BrideRoversw
SENIOR HURLING LEAGUE.
Well earned Draw in Charleville
Our senior hurlers travelled to Charleville on Friday last for our final league game in the 2022 Red FM sponsored County Senior Hurling League.
The game finished level after an enthralling contest that had some fine passages of play and some excellent score. The Rovers got off to the perfect start and after 15 minutes we led the home team 1-07 to 0-2, the Rovers goal coming from Cillian Tobin. However a mix up in defence let Charleville in for a goal. The Rovers were playing some good hurling and were well worth their interval lead of 1-12 to 1-07. A beautiful side-line cut by Adam Walsh was one of the many first half highlights. As expected Charleville came at us fast in the second half with a succession of points to reduce our lead to the bare minimum. A second Charleville goal saw them take the lead for the first time coming near the end of a great game. However, as always, the Rovers battled to the finish and a pointed free from Conor Barry in injury time ensured a well earned and deserved draw.We finished our league campaign in the bottom half of the table which ensures Division 2 Senior Hurling League in 2023.

CELBRIDGE TOURNAMENT.
On Saturday we travelled up to Celebridge with a young panel of players from under 9 to under 11 and they played their socks off . We played Maynooth (Kildare), Ardclough (Kildare) and Oylegate-Glenbrien (Wexford) in our first three matches before lunch . After lunch we played the host Club Celbridge . We had a brilliant day and the work ethic of our boys was exceptional. It was a great and memorable day we have to thank the U10/U9 panel mentors for travelling up and working the line with us , without them our under11s would have missed out on a brilliant experience. The hosts, Celbridge, ran a great daTournament where the focus was on fun and the development of hurling . Our games were extremely competitive and gave our players exposure to teams we wouldn’t get to encounter normally. It’s such a super experience for our young hurlers to play against teams from other Counties. Special thanks for the invitation to former Bride Rovers player Ciarain O Donovan who is one of the mainstays of the Celbridge Club.

JAMES TOBIN RIP.
One of the great GAA Characters in Waterford died unexpectedly earlier this week with the passing of James Tobin. An out and out Shamrocks Clubman James served his Club in every capacity and in 1984, the GAA Centenary year, he was elected as Chairman of the Waterford GAA County Board. A member of Waterford County Council since 199 he served as Mayor of Waterford City and County in 2014/15 and was elected as Deputy Mayor only last week.
