Happy Easter to All..
On behalf of the Bride Rovers Club may I wish all our players, members supporters, sponsors and benefactors a very Happy Easter. Traditionally Easter time, especially Holy Thursday and Good Friday were games-free days but all has changed in recent times. It’s holiday time from Schools so we hope everyone has an enjoyable and peaceful time. Another sign of the changing times- next Sunday, Easter Sunday and Cork are playing Munster Championship. For over a century we associated big Munster championship games with dust in the square, ham sandwiches ate from the boot of the car, sizzling summer sunshine and blue skies. With the GAA’s Split Season all’s changed, utterly changed and ‘tis doubtful if we’ll have dust in the square in the park next Sunday but sure we might have a ‘dust-up’! Happy Easter to all.
Tony Walsh Cup Goes to Mallow.
Last year above in Kildorerry we were pipped by Mallow in our third Group Game in the Senior Hurling. It was a game we could easily have won but didn’t. In our third 2022 SHL game last Saturday night Mallow were visitor to Pairc na Bride in a game that doubled as the Tony Walsh Cup Final as well. It was a chance to turn the tables on Mallow and collect some silverware as well. Unfortunately after a very even first half we went out of the contest completely in the second half. When we went a point ahead from a Wm Finnegan free early in the second half things were looking good but Mallow got through for three more goals and won by 4 12 to 0 14. We had numerous chances but our wide tally was huge and Mallow were deserving winners on the night. Thanks to Nora, Anne Marie, Michael and Danny Walsh for attending and presenting the cup. Thanks also to Willie Wallis the referee. Ben Hogan, Tadhg O Sullivan, Adrian Buckley, Seamus Ahern, Paddy O Flynn, Shane Walsh,, Shane O Connor, Kieran Kearney

Presentations.
On Saturday night after the Tony Walsh cup game we had several presentations to make. Our Juvenile winning sides of 2021 got their Championship and league medals on the pitch. Last year was a unique one in our Club’s history with Minor and under 20 All Ireland medals coming to Bride Rovers. Brian and Eoin Roche were on the 2020 team which won their delayed All Ireland Final whilst paddy O Flynn was involved with the Cork 2021 side. Cillian Tobin and Adam Walsh brought the first ever Minor All Ireland hurl0ing medals to the parish. Our former great Barry Johnson was part of the Cork Minor Backroom team.. Last Saturday night Brian, Eoin, Paddy, Cillian, Adam and Barry were all recipients of special presentations to mark their achievements. In turn the lads help present all the Juvenile medals. Well done lads. Club Chairman Gerard Lane also made presentations of special trophies to James Bermingham, mark Murphy and Pa O Driscoll all of whom have been referees at Divisional, County, Provincial and National level.
UNDER 19 HURLING LEAGUE.
The under 19 grade has been introduced in Cork this year. Both leagues and Championships are being run. We travelled to Carrigtwohill last Wednesday evening for our first league game of the season. We had a lot players missing on the night with injuries and other factors and with Carrigtwohill having a strong team out this was always going to be a tough game -we had a marvellous game at under 18 level with Carrig last Autumn.. We played with the wind in the first and to honest it was a gale force wind and at half time we led 11pts to 1-3. Carrigtwohill took full advantage of the wind in the second half and took the lead half way through but our boys battled back and ran out winners on a scoreline of 1-17 to 1-14 this was a serious effort by the boys, especially when short so many, well done lads
Panel Ronan, Cameron, Liam Cormac, Adam Hynes Conor, Ciaran Cotter, Josh, David, Adam Hayes, Adam Walsh, Nicky, Cillian, Edmond, Louie, Frank, Oran, Darragh, Ben, Ciaran O Dowd, Our next under 19 hurling game is at home next Wednesday night April 20th when we fact St Colmcilles (Carrignavar/Whites Cross) at 7pm.
UNDER 13’ IN ACTION
Bride Rovers U13 Football Gold team were at home on Thursday evening for the opening game in their C3 league competition with Kiltha Og providing the opposition. This competition consists of 4 teams with the results determining what level each team will compete in for the 2022 league campaign. Bride Rovers U13 Gold team Footballers are in a group with Kiltha Og, Midleton and Mallow and this competition is for second teams with players on the age. The game on Thursday evening was the first football match for this group and was played in the Juvenile pitch.
These teams have met regularly over the past few seasons and there has never been much between these sides and this was the case again on Thursday night. Kiltha Og started strong and were first on the score sheet with a few nicely taken points. The Rovers took some time to get going and were reliant on Ciaran to keep the scoreboard ticking over in the first half with two well taken goals. The half time score had the sides all square with the Rovers on two goals to Kiltha Ogs 1-03. The second half saw the work rate of the Rovers increase and this is evident from their scoring return where they kicked seven points whilst conceding two scores all be it, one of these was a goal. At the final whistle, the Rovers won out on a scoreline of 2-07 to 2-04.
The team and scorers on Thursday were: Tadhg Cronin (0-01), Conor Geaney, Cian Cashman, Shane Drinan, Euan O'Grady, Danny Walsh, Evan Quaine, Ciaran O'Donovan (2-03), Daniel Gubbins, Darren Kearney, Sebastian Byrd (0-02), Shane Drinan, Jeff O'Connell, Shane McCarthy, Conn Nagle and Mark Hynes (0-01) .There were some games called off during the past week primarily due to Covid and these have been refixed for the coming weeks. The fixtures for this week are: Gold team away to Blackrock in the Castleroad pitch on Thursday 14th April at 7pm in C3 Hurling and the Green team away to Midleton on Monday 18th in P2 Football at 7pm.
There was a presentation of medals to the 2021 U12 Green and Gold teams after the Senior Hurling League Game / Tony Walsh Cup against Mallow on Saturday night last. The boys were thrilled to receive their hurling and football medals from some of the current club greats with Brian Roche, Eoin Roche, Adam Waslh, Cillian Tobin and Barry Johnson all part of the presentation. The loudest cheer on the night was reserved for Rian Sommers who received his medal from Brian and Eoin.
JUNIOR HURLING LEAGUE Div 2.
Junior B Hurling vs Fr. O'Neill's. Final score Bride Rovers 17 Pts to 2-16 for Fr. O'Neills.
Team; S Knox, L Collins, M Liddane, J Connor, S Ahern, L Forde, O Roche, D Barry, E Cashman, D Buckley, A Walsh, J Ahern, J O'Keeffe, C Barry & A Hayes. J Powell, J Buckley, J O'Sullivan, C Howard.
We started the game brightly and after 5 minutes led by 3pts to 1 with Damien getting a point and a pair from Conor Barry. O'Neill's levelled it 3 a piece before we got the next 4 points two each from Conor and Jesse. We then traded points with Josh Ahern got a fine point score. Damien got his second and Conor Barry got 3 more before half time but O'Neills responded before half time with a couple scores to leave us leading 12pts to 7 at half time. O'Neill's started the 2nd half very brightly and got 6 points without response to take the lead. Two more points from Conor Barry saw us retake the lead. The teams shared the next 4 points to leave us leading 16 points to 15 with 5 minutes left to play before O'Neills got a goal. We responded with another point before O' Neills got a 2nd goal at the death to run out 5-point winners. Overall, it was a much-improved performance by our lads who felt unlucky to lose it at the end.

UNDER 12’s v ROCKIES..
Our under12 boys were at home to Blackrock in the hurling league on Monday night last. To say the conditions were testing for our hurling league game would be an understatement!! Driving rain left surface water on the juvenile pitch. With cold and wet conditions high scoring was never going to happen but it was a good contest nevertheless. Our lads knew a battle was ahead of them against a good Blackrock side. To be fair to the lads they tore into the game and managed to get ahead by half time 4 points to 2. The second half was very close with both defences managing to keep things very tight. In games like this a goal makes a huge difference and Blackrock got one with time nearly up. Final score Blackrock 1-4 Bride Rovers 0-5. Team on the night was Cathal M, Jack, Cathal O'B, Sam, Danny, Cody, Nathan, Sean F, Sean H, Fionn L, Cormac, David, Liam, Fionn C, Ciaran, Alex, Elliot and Daniel. Speedy recovery to Cathal O'B and Sean H who went off injured.
Our next game is football away to Killeagh at 6:45.

UNDER 15 FOOTBALL.
We played our second football League game on the 6th of April in Pairc Na Bride against Duarigle Gaels – combination of Millstreet and Cullen. We started the first half with the wind but it was no advantage we just couldn't score despite having plenty possession. The visitors converted their chances and at half time the score was Bride Rovers 0-2 to 2-5 for the Gaels. In the second half our lads kept possession of the ball and did really well adding 3 goals and 2 points to our tally and just being piped by a point at the finish. The final score was Bride Rovers 3-4 to Duarigle Gaels 2-8. Many thanks to our sponsor East Cork Fireplaces.
UNDER 10’S ON THE ROAD.
The under 10s were away last Saturday down in Cloyne to play St.Colmans in football.St COlmans are an amalgamation of Cloyne and Russell Rovers.
