SENIOR HURLING; On a windy St. Patrick’s morning we played Ballyduff in a senior hurling challenge match in Rathcormac. This was our final game before we played Carrigtwohill in the opening round of the Red FM Sponsored Senior Hurling League on last Tuesday night
The windy conditions made it a game of two halves, points from Ronan O Connell, Conleith Ryan, Jordan Mannix and Conor Barry had us in front 0-11 to 0-02 at the interval. In the second half, despite playing against the strong wind, the Rovers used the ball well with some good short passing working the ball into scoring positions. A wonderful goal from Conleith Ryan was the highlight of the match. Further points from Adam Hayes, Conor Barry, Shane O Connor ensured the Rovers won on a score-line of 1-17 to 2-10.

JHL v ST CATHERINES.
We had a great turn out of 24 players with a lot of new faces from last year minor team for our first JHL game in Ballynoe. The Team/squad was,
Eddie Cashman, Seamus Ahern, Mike Liddane, Jack Conor, Oisin Roche, Adrian Buckley, Conor Hazelwood, Damien Buckley, David Barry (0-1), Connor Barry (0-1), Conlaith Ryan (0-6 (3f), DJ Cahill (0-1), Jesse O'Keffee (0-1), Adam Walsh (1-3), Ronan O'Connell,
Tom Macak (0-1), Josh Ahern, Jacob Powell, Adam Hayes, Nicky Kelleher, John O'Sullivan, Jamie Buckley, John Buckley, Leon O'Flynn.
We started the game well and all our players were going well. Adam Walsh was very effective in full forward with 3 early points and Conleith playing very well at Centre forward. We were a couple points up but Catherines came back to lead before Adam got a goal to leave us up 1-7 to 9 points at half time. Second half was going well for us and we were 5 points up with a couple minutes to go. Catherines got a goal before we extended the lead to 3 points again and we looked to have done enough to win before Catherines got another goal right at the end to level the game. Overall, a positive start to the league which was the team's first outing of the year so will hopefully improve from that.
PREMIER 2 MINOR HURLING; Bride Rovers. 0-11 Inniscarra 1-09.
Last Saturday afternoon we welcomed Inniscarra to Rathcormac to play our second hurling game in our P2 league program. A windy day made it the proverbial game of two halves. Inniscarra took an early lead in the game and some very dubious referee decisions going both ways made both teams and their managements very frustrated. At half time Inniscarra were 7 points to 2 ahead. We worked our way into the game in the second half scoring the first 4 points. But then the ref amazed everyone by awarding Inniscarra a penalty when their player was fouled on the 21 metre line and they raised a green flag. Again we worked our way back into the game but unfortunately some of our shooting was wayward and time ran out. We lost by a single point but it was a good workout for the lads. Panel for the day was;Frank. Darragh. Eldon Adam. Oran. Luke Kieran Cameron Cormac Kamso Ronan Louie Ryan Cillian Ben. Connor. Gearoid Cormac B. Cillian o S. Colin. Ciaran. Jack C. Jack H.

JUNIOR FOOTBALL LEAGUE.
The Junior A Footballers travelled to Killeagh on Sunday afternoon for their second league game of the season where Glenbower Rovers provided the opposition. There was another fine turnout with 23 players togged out and with the Junior A football league rules allowing for 9 substitutes, this provided plenty of game time to all who travelled. The Rovers started strongly and were on top for large parts of the game coming away with a second league win on a score line of 1-11 to 2-04. This was a good workout for the team and the Rovers goal was well taken by Liam Forde. The panel and scorers were: Adam Walsh, Ben Hogan, Conor Barry (0-04), Conor Hazelwood, Cian Hogan (0-03), Cian Howard, Daniel Dooley, Dave Barry, DJ Cahill (0-01), Jamie Barry, Jamie Buckley, John O'Sullivan, Kieran Kearney, Liam Forde (1-00), Paddy O'Flynn, Paul Larkin, Seamus Ahern, Shane Walsh, Tadhg O'Sullivan, Jason Manix, Jordan Manix and William Finnegan (0-03). The next league game is at home to Midleton on Sunday 3rd April at 12.45 pm the Main Pitch.
REBEL OG UNDER 14 HURLING.
The under14 boys got off to a great start in their hurling league campaign with a comprehensive 8-18 to 1-7 victory against Youghal in Copperalley, Youghal, last Sunday. Playing with the breeze the Rovers’ lads raced into an early lead and never looked back with three goals and a point within the first 10 minutes. Denis Fitzgerald and Matthew Kenny lead the way with the scores in the forwards, ably assisted by Michael Gubbins, Matthew O’Sullivan, Adam Kelleher and James Larkin. Youghal fought hard to try and get back into it and managed to score 2 points in response. Garry Quirke and James Finn in midfield upped the Rovers’ activity and started to take control with numerous forays from half back by Jack Lynch. Owen Ryan, in goal, snuffed out the one Youghal goal chance in that first half. In the second half, with the breeze now in Youghal’s favour, the backs had more trouble to deal with and David Dixon, Eanna Lyons, Jamie Walsh and Cathal Barry all stepped up to cut out some dangerous moves and were able to put the pressure back on the Youghal defence. Micheal Walsh, Darragh O’Farrell and Con McCormack also provided an impetus in the forwards which kept the scoreboard ticking over. Overall, all the boys played their part in setting a high standard for the remainder of the year. We now look forward to our next league match against Castlelyons on April the 3rd , with a potential challenge match in football against Cobh next weekend.
UNDER 15 HURLING;
Bride Rovers under15 team played their first hurling league match of 2022 against Fermoy in Pairc Na Bride on Thursday 17th of March. It was a windy afternoon so it was going to be a game of two halves. Fermoy started strongly and had the advantage of playing with the wind in the first half. Fermoy led at half time 2-4 to 5 points. Bride Rovers fought hard in the second half and turned the game around winning by a score of 2-14 to 2-7. Our next league match will be against Kilara Og in Pairc Na Bride on Thursday the 31st of March at 6.30. We would like to thank our sponsor East Cork Fireplaces.

CORK HURLERS IN LEAGUE SEMI FINAL.
Cork hurlers travelled to Wexford for their last Group Game in the National league in the happy position of knowing they were already qualified for the semi final. They lost to Wexford but as a result meet Kilkenny rather than Munster rivals Waterford in the penultimate game. From a Bride Rovers point of view it was great to see Brian Roche start the game with Eoin on the bench. Having been troubled with injury over the winter a return to full fitness is welcome news. So it’s Wexford v Waterford and the Rebels v The Cats as Cork seek a first league title since 1998. Cork have home advantage for the semi final on next Saturday evening with a 7.15 start in Pairc Ui Chaoimh. The second semi is on Sunday at 3.45 in Nowlan park.
UNDER 12 HURLERS START.
Our under12 boys played Watergrasshill in the juvenile pitch on Sunday morning. It was both sides first game of the year but we settled into the game well. Our defence was very solid with Zack excellent in goals Jack, Cathal, Sam, Nathan, Cody and Alex playing well. Scores were hard to come by and we were up by a point at half time - Ciaràn with our goal. The second half was a similar affair but we got two goals from Fionn that put us ahead. The two Sean's worked hard in midfield and our forwards Cormac, Ciaran, Fionn L, Daniel, Fionn C and David combined well. It was a good start to a busy season ahead. Our first league match is football at home on April 4th against Brian Dilions in the juvenile pitch.
UNDER 13’s WIN AWAY.
Bride Rovers under 13 Hurling green team travelled to Shanagarry on Saturday evening for the opening game in their Premier 2 league grading competition with St Colmans providing the opposition. The grading competition consists of 4 teams with the results determining what level each team will compete in for the 2022 league campaign. Bride Rovers U13 green team Hurlers are in a group with St. Colmans, Erins Own and Youghal.
The game on Saturday was the first time this team has played 15 a side on a full pitch and this was certainly a new experience for this group. They opened strong and dominated possession in the early stages with the opening score coming from Sebastian when he slotted to the net with just 2 minutes on the clock. This was quickly followed with a goal from Bobby and the Rovers had settled into the game early. Some well taken points from Mark, Michael and Cathal and a second goal from Bobby saw the Rovers leading at half time on a score line of 3-06 to 1-03. The Second half was to be a much more competitive fair with St Colemans taking control in the early stages to score a goal within 2 minutes of the resumption and dominating possession for large parts. The Rovers defence was being well tested and stood strong to the challenge with some fantastic saves by Ciaran between the posts ensuring that the Rovers were not going to be caught on this occasion. Second Half goals from Michael and Bobby with further point scoring from Mark, Michael and Finn saw the Rovers win out on a scoreline of 5-09 to 2-10. To pick out individuals would not justify what was an outstanding all round team performance where all 19 players togged out contributed to the result over the hour and went away delighted to have opened the 2022 campaign with a win. The team and scorers on Saturday were: Ciaran Donovan, Nathan Cahill, Oliver Harris, Callum Sommers, Danny Walsh, Cathal Barry (0-01), Tadhg Cronin, Finn O'Driscoll (0-02), Matthew O'Sullivan, Donagh Hurley, Micheal Walsh (0-05), Mark Hynes (0-02), John Noonan, Bobby Sweeney (3-00), Sebastian Byrd (1-00), Dylan Keating, Euan O'Grady, Evan Quaine and Daniel Gubbins.
