Senior Ladies Football:
Our senior ladies football team commenced their league campaign on a sunny afternoon in Glanmire on Sunday last. Both teams fought hard and our ladies work rate was fantastic throughout but it was not to be on the day against a fast, young Glanmire side. Well done to all and we look forward to our Round 2 game at home against Inch Rovers on Sunday July 4th. Time TBC.
Junior Camogie:
The Junior camogieteam play their first league match vs Millstreet away next Saturday 26th at 7pm. Best of luck girls.
U14 Football;
The East Cork U14's Division A Football league match between Bride Rovers and St. Nicks. Our ladies came out well ahead in their first league match of the season, in unusually hot conditions, on Sunday afternoon at home to St. Nicks, a team who have pushed this team close over the last couple of years. It was great team work and interplay from backs to forwards which put Bride Rovers on the front foot early on. With the final score of 5-21 to 4-2, the Bride Rovers girls were always in control of a game that was fast flowing from start to finish, a tribute to the girls fitness and team work. The perfect start to their season. Well done to all involved. This week, it was another beautiful evening for our second football match of the season. We started the game with the sun and wind in our backs. However, Aghada scored a goal and point in the first few minutes. The Rovers ran a muck thereafter planting a few fine goals early. At half time we were well up but our work rate never waned. Aghada got a few scores at the start of the second half but there trot was short lived. Every player for Bride Rovers gave 110 percent. Great victory for our girls . Final score 7-11 to 3-5 . Bride Rovers Abú.
Bride Rovers players represent the club on Cork U14, 16 and Minor Panels for 2021:
Congratulations and well done to our Bride Rovers girls Clodagh O’Flaherty, Ava Barry, Lily Murray, Ciara Morrison and Leah Hallihan who are representing Bride Rovers Ladies Football on Cork U14, U16 and Minor panels respectively and in particular to Clodagh who will be making her debut in the Cork jersey this year. This is a fantastic achievement and we look forward to seeing them wearing the Cork jersey in the coming months. These girls are great role models for all players across our club and we wish them well playing at intercounty level. Well done girls!
U16 Football:
Our Bride Rovers under 16 girls took on Youghal at home on a gloriously sunny Monday evening. From the off this match was pacey with both team's eager to fight for dominance. Rovers had the wind and sun behind them in the first half and made sure to take advantage by knocking over some lovely points and finding the net for goals. They were well clear of Youghal at half time. The second half saw Youghal regain some advantage with some lovely scores early on fighting hard and chipping away at the Rovers lead. Rovers continued to keep their cool and every player battled hard against a Youghal who never let up their hunger. Rovers sealed the game with a few fine points in the last ten minutes to secure our first win in football this season. Final score 3-7 to 4-16 .
U12 Camogie:
Our U12 camogie team started off their 2021 league by welcoming Dungourney to a sunny Rathcormac last Friday evening. Twenty girls donned the green, white and gold and played the clubs first competitive game on the clubs newly developed juvenile pitch. The only thing the game lacked was a positive result, with 20 girls available to play management were making seven changes
every quarter with girls rotating into different positions and ensuring all the girls played, the enthusiasm, hard work and determination
of each girl was great to see and is a sign of great things to come from the group. All the parents played their part as well with cheering and encouragement at all times, also thanks to our referee Caoimhe.
U10 Camogie
On Saturday last our U10 girls played Dungourney in 3 great games of camogie. In roasting conditions the application of the girls was great to see especially as it was the first game of camogie for a few of our girls. Thanks to Dungourney for hosting us and well done to all our girls for a fantastic effort on the day.
U16 Camogie:
We kicked off our Camoige matches away to St Fanahans in Ballygiblin pitch.
It was a very sunny evening and our 16 girl's lined out with enthusiasm. St Fanahans dominated the first 15 minutes scoring a ripper of a goal that even our lord couldn't save. The Rovers goalie came under pressure making plenty of great saves. For the second quarter Rovers scored a few points and at half time we were down a goal.The final thirty minutes saw our girls show dominance gnawing and battling at the St Fanahans girl's with Rovers scoring a late goal to secure a draw. Final score 2-5 to 2-5. Well done to our girls who showed great heart and we look forward to our next Camoige match against Bandon on Sunday June 20th.
