The Bride Rovers Club is a community based organisation. We cater for Gaelic games but at present with no games, meetings, training or social activities taking place we still have a role in Rathcormac, Bartlemy and Kildinan. These are difficult and unprecedented times in our country and in the world in general. With self-isolation and physical and social distancing now the norm many in our parish may be finding it difficult to cope. If we in the GAA Club can do anything for you- delivering or collecting shopping, fuel or medical supplies please contact us. We urge all our own members to be aware of neighbours who might need a helping hand or just a phone call. The Community has always supported our Club so now we must help anyone we can. If you need assistance please ring 087 2070100 or 086 7710766.
ST.PATRICK'S DAY CAR PARADE.
The message came out on the afternoon of St. Patrick's Day "grab the kids, the flags and the colours" -that was it and hey presto a safe and enjoyable St Patricks Day Car parade was up and running. The cars, close on 100 of them, met at the Pairc na Bride, went through the village, up to Bartlemy and back. It was just a wonderful occasion, great for parents and children to get out and celebrate our national Holiday in a fun way. Thanks to those who organised the event and to each and every one that took part.
DERRY O BRIEN RIP.
The death occurred last week of Derry O Brien of Cobh. Derry was a native of Ovens and played hurling with his native Eire Og Club. He was on the 1965 Cork Intermediate Hurling team that won the Munster and All Ireland Championship. Our own Seanie Barry was a member of that successful Cork team that was captained by Davy Murphy of Castletownroche. When he moved to East Cork Derry set up home in Cobh. Here in the Harbour town e became a valued and able administrator with the Cobh Club and a referee with the East Cork and County Boards. He was elected Chairman of the East Cork Divisional Board in 1974, a position he held for four years. He was an able and capable chairman and a very fair referee. On behalf of all in Bride Rovers we extend our deepest sympathy to the O Brien family. May Derry rest in peace.

LETTER FROM GAA COMMUNITY &HEALTH TEAM,CROKE PARK.
The following letter has been sent to all Clubs from Aoife O Reilly, the GAA Health and Community Administrator. Aoife is based in Croke Park but her remit extends to all GAA units.
A Chara,
We hope this finds you and yours well. It’s been a real inspiration to see the leadership shown by County Health & Wellbeing Committees and Healthy Clubs in response to the coronavirus Covid-19 crisis this week. You are helping to keep people connected and assisting the most vulnerable in our communities. Keep it up.At national level the Community & Health Department is working with the Department of Health, the HSE, and Department of Rural and Community Development to identify how our units and members can best assist those in need, and we expect further clarification early next week from the authorities, which we will then share with you.We are also exploring ways through which we can connect with you directly and hope to deliver some Healthy Club forums remotely via webinars. More details to follow next week.In the meantime, please continue to adhere to the public health guidelines regarding Covid-19, and stay safe. Attached is a simple PDF document that you may wish to share with you clubs and members. Remember, the content applies to you also – you can’t look after anyone else unless you look after yourself! Le meas mór, Aoife O Reilly
DOWN MEMORY LANE.
In the early years of the Bride Rovers Club only the menfolk were catered for. After a few years a camogie team was started up in Bartlemy. Prominent Club hurlers Jim and Ned Hoskins and Bill Ryan of 'the Field' Ballinterry were the 'trainers'. They played a few practise games and also some League games. I'm still not sure if they played any championship games.
A HURLERS PRAYER.
Give me o'Lord a hurlers skill
With strength of arm and speed of limb
Unerring eye for the flying ball
And courage to match them whatever befall
May my aim be steady - my stroke be true
My actions manly - my misses few
And no matter what way the game may go
May I part in friendship with every foe
When the final whistle for me is blown
And I stand at last at Gods Judgement Throne
May the great Referee when he calls my name
Say you hurled like a man, you played the game
REMINDERS ON PHYSICAL, MENTAL and SOCIAL HEALTH.
Nobody in Ireland has ever before encountered a situation like the one we are now in. We include a few tips on Physical, mental and Social health which may be of benefit.

Get lots of fresh air
Encourage children to use this time to practise skills in the garden or yard or park
Ensure that you are getting enough sleep
Limit the use of devices at night
Maintain healthy diet and keep hydrated
Include fresh foods that help boost the immune system and fight colds/flu
Be mindful of alcohol intake -alcohol weakens your immune system and can have a negative affect on ones mood and mental health.
Mental Health
Take a little personal time out each day and practise some deep breathing.
Limit your time on social media and your consumption of Covid-19newsstories
Sign up to your local library Continue to spend time outdoors, by yourself and with family members.

NEW ROLE FOR PAIRC UI CHAOIMH..
The GAA right across the country have rowed in with the huge campaign to fight the Covid 19 Virus. Last week Croke Park was opened as a 'drive-in' Testing Centre where individuals were able to avail of free virus testing. This week Pairc Ui Chaoimh joined the ranks as a Testing Centre It is important to state that no one should go to any Testing Centre without an appointment. Anyone who wants a test or has particular health issues should first phone their own GP practise. A decision will be made as regards the need for a Test and if needed a particular time and place will be arranged. .
MARCH GAA DRAW OFF.

'If' by Rudyard Kipling- A Poem of Inspiration.
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or, being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;
If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with triumph and disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with wornout tools;
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on";
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch;
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man my son!
KEEP RIGHT ON TO THE END OF THE ROAD.
With a big stout heart to a long steep hill,
We may get there with a smile,
With a good kind thought and an end in view,
We may cut short many a mile.
So let courage ev'ry day
Be your guiding star away…
Keep right on to the end of the road,
Keep right on to the end,
Tho' the way be long, let your heart be strong,
Keep right on round the bend.
Tho' you're tired and weary still journey on,
Till you come to your happy abode,
Where all the love you've been dreaming of
Will be there at the end of the road.
